The Latest Character from 'The Light Guard' Series: Fujisawa Sho as Sekisaki Lighthouse Debuting This May

The Latest Character from 'The Light Guard' Series

On May 30, the popular voice actor Sho Fujisawa will take on a new role in the ongoing 'The Light Guard' project. This initiative, led by World Eggs Co., Ltd. based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, seeks to personify lighthouses across Japan, creating narratives that highlight their historical and cultural significance. The project aims to educate and entertain audiences through storytelling, with the latest addition featuring Sekisaki Lighthouse located in Oita City, part of the 'Fantastical Night Stories' series.

About the Project

The 'The Light Guard' project has captured the imagination of many by transforming Japan's lighthouses into vibrant characters. These characters embody the unique history and culture of each lighthouse, and they are brought to life with the incredible talents of voice actors. Through this multimedia approach, the project hopes to introduce lighthouse enthusiasts and the wider public to the charm of these seafaring landmarks.

The next episode, the 58th installment of 'Fantastical Night Stories,' will showcase Fujisawa Sho as the guardian of Sekisaki Lighthouse. He will engage in a captivating dialogue with writer Nagao Kan'ya, voiced by Sōnosuke Hattori. The premiere will be broadcast on Nico Nico Live, an online streaming service, at 10 PM on May 30, followed by a YouTube premiere at 11 PM the same day.

Sekisaki Lighthouse Highlights

Situated at the tip of the Sagara Peninsula, Sekisaki Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Oita Prefecture, illuminating the important maritime passage known as Hayasui Strait. This area has historically been a challenging route for seafarers, and the lighthouse has been a steadfast sentinel for over a century. In fact, the current lens used at Sata Cape Lighthouse was once the first lens that served at Sekisaki Lighthouse, showcasing the rich relationships between these iconic structures, highlighted through their interwoven histories.

The Sekisaki Lighthouse stands 11 meters tall and boasts a light range of 70 meters. The lighthouse's lantern became operational in 1901, and today, visitors can also explore the nearby Sekisaki Mirai Kaiseikan observatory, which houses the second lens used in Sekisaki.

Upcoming Activities

Looking forward to 2025, the project will include new voice dramas and comic strips detailing the adventures of the lighthouse guardians. Among the planned activities are:
1. Voice Drama 'Fantastical Night Stories' - Short narratives exploring the histories of lighthouses across Japan.
2. Voice Drama 'Backlight' - A grand tale depicting the battles faced by the guardians of light.
3. 4-Panel Manga 'Gather Around, Guardians!' - A light-hearted look into the daily lives of the anthropomorphized lighthouse characters.
