A New Chapter in Child Welfare Initiatives
Hiroshima Bank, led by President Kazuo Kiyosumi, has partnered with MetLife Life Insurance, under the leadership of Dirk Osteen, to support children's welfare through their 38th round of donations from the ongoing "Joint Social Contribution Program." This initiative, established in 2007 as part of each company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), takes a significant step forward as they recently announced their latest contributions.
Donation Details
The latest donation cycle, covering the period from October 2025 to March 2026, has resulted in a total contribution amounting to 254,000 yen, with both Hiroshima Bank and MetLife Life Insurance contributing equal shares of 127,000 yen each. The funds were officially presented on July 3rd, with a ceremonial handover taking place at the Hiroshima Children's Dream Foundation.
Beneficiary Organizations
The contribution has been designated to support various local organizations, including:
- - Hiroshima Children’s Dream Foundation (公益財団法人ひろしまこども夢財団)
- - Twelve organized children's facilities in Hiroshima Prefecture
- - Two organized infant care homes
- - Two foster parent associations
These organizations play a crucial role in creating a nurturing environment for the region’s children. Hiroshima Bank and MetLife Life Insurance aim to enhance educational opportunities and social inclusion for the younger generation, representing their commitment to shaping the future of individuals in society.
The Purpose Behind the Program
The primary goal of the Joint Social Contribution Program is to foster a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive. Both Hiroshima Bank and MetLife recognize the significance of providing equality in education and social participation for children, especially those in vulnerable situations. This program not only supports facilities helping children directly but also strengthens community bonds through partnerships with local welfare organizations.
Contribution Mechanism
The funding method employed is innovative; it derives from the sale of MetLife's single premium personal annuities and whole life insurance policies over a six-month period. By multiplying the number of policies sold by 2,000 yen, the total amount is then evenly split between both organizations for donation, demonstrating a collaborative effort in contributing toward the community's welfare.
Cumulative Donations Over The Years
Since the inception of this program, the cumulative donation has reached a remarkable total of 32,226,000 yen, with each organization contributing an equal 16,113,000 yen. This figure reflects a sustained commitment to children's welfare over many years and highlights their ongoing partnership in creating a positive impact.
