Bringing over ten years of extensive experience in community development finance and nonprofit operations, Carras steps into this role as a seasoned specialist in fostering funding partnerships and implementing strategic communications. Her previous experiences have uniquely positioned her to advance NHPF's mission, as stated by Eric Price, the President and CEO of The NHP Foundation. "Megan brings a strong record of connecting funders and partners to investments that strengthen communities," Price remarked. With her fundraising skills and ability to convey NHPF's impact effectively, Carras is expected to play a vital role in executing the foundation's strategic initiatives, which aim to boost affordable housing opportunities and enhance vital onsite resident services provided by Operation Pathways.
Before joining NHPF, Megan Carras held a pivotal position at the
Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF), where she served for six years, culminating her tenure as the Chief Development and Communications Officer. In that role, she was instrumental in crafting fundraising strategies that yielded over
$25 million in revenue. Carras successfully engaged with prominent funding partners like
Wells Fargo, CareFirst, Starbucks, and JPMorgan Chase. Notably, she led the capital campaign for the

Sustainable Entrepreneurship Report and contributed to creating an innovative green lending product that integrates community development goals with environmental sustainability.
Reflecting on her new role, Carras expressed enthusiasm for the mission of
The NHP Foundation, stating, "Affordable housing provides a foundation for stability and opportunity. I am excited to join NHPF and engage donors and partners in creating quality affordable homes and supporting Operation Pathways' work to help residents achieve greater stability, opportunity, and independence.” She emphasized the importance of sharing compelling stories that resonate with potential investors, aiming to inspire community support and investment.
