Gakken Group Welcomes New Graduates at Post-Pandemic Ceremony

Gakken Group's Welcoming Ceremony for New Graduates

On March 31, 2026, Gakken Holdings Co., Ltd., led by President Hiroaki Miyahara, welcomed 52 new graduates into its Medical Care Service, which operates over 370 nursing care facilities across the country. This event took place at the Gakken building in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and marked the company's first large-scale welcoming ceremony since the pandemic.

Emphasizing People in Care: The 'Companion' Approach

The new recruitment strategy of Medical Care Service focuses on nurturing future leaders through the 'Total Management Course' and those aiming to become specialists in the 'Professional Course.' This involves a 'companion-based' selection process that personalizes the experience of each student. Instead of simply filtering candidates based on standard criteria, the company aims to address applicants' concerns before joining by proposing tailored programs through dialogue.

Understanding that 'people' are the capital in the nursing field, the company prioritizes real interaction over virtual communication, establishing initiatives that foster warm, human discussions. The nationwide gathering for the entrance ceremony and the four-day accommodation training in Nasu reflect this supportive effort.

Unique Training and Follow-Ups for New Employees

Commencing the day after the ceremony, the accommodation training aimed not only at enhancing basic occupational skills and understanding of the company but also focused on creating a solid bond among peers. For new employees assigned to various facilities nationwide, the strong connections formed during this period play a critical role in providing psychological safety when facing challenges in their work.

Moreover, those in the 'Total Management Course' will participate in monthly training sessions after joining. This continuous educational opportunity builds on the camaraderie established during the initial retreat, reinforcing both professional expertise and vital self-reflective abilities that contribute to long-term career development.

New Employees Share Their Experiences

Some comments from new employees include:
  • - Employee A: "I was initially anxious about whether I could continue this job. However, the numerous interviews before selection reassured me, and I felt that my suitability was genuinely considered. Seeing the workplace before joining also made a significant impact on my decision. Through the training, I realized that care work is a 'team effort.' I aim to contribute with a high level of awareness as part of my team."

  • - Employee B: "I wasn't initially interested in caregiving, but I learned about the personalized approach they take, which isn't just talk but a reality I witnessed during site visits. Quick support from the staff during my doubts really helped too. The training allowed me to feel the presence of peers who share similar challenges. I hope to continue striving, motivated by my colleagues' efforts."

Continuing the 'Companion' Approach in Future Recruitment

Recent surveys indicate that a notable 40.6% of students express anxiety about human relationships when considering their future. Furthermore, indicators such as 'company culture fitting' (45.5%) and 'coworkers fitting' (40.3%) rank highly in importance compared to the nature of the job itself (50.4%).

To meet these needs, Medical Care Service plans to emphasize 'people' in their selection and internship processes, creating opportunities for deep self-analysis and understanding of job suitability through real-world experiences and thorough feedback from employees. This 'companion-based' philosophy will be further developed in recruitment activities aimed at students graduating in 2027.
