Angel Yeast's Baiyang Biotechnology Park Opening in September 2025
Angel Yeast to Launch Baiyang Biotechnology Park
In a significant development for the biotechnology and food sectors, Angel Yeast, a prominent global player in yeast manufacturing, has announced the forthcoming opening of its Baiyang Biotechnology Park located in the High-Tech Zone of Yichang, China. The park is scheduled to finalize its construction by September 2025 and will initiate trial production shortly thereafter.
The Baiyang Biotechnology Park is designed to establish an eco-friendly industrial supply chain. This chain will leverage grain sources, carbon sources, and biological manufacturing and synthesis methods to dramatically enhance the global supply of high-value yeast products. These include yeast protein, nucleic acid-rich yeast extracts, specialized yeasts, and fermented glucose, all of which cater to international food, health product, and biotechnology industries. The facility will provide top-tier raw material solutions that will significantly boost the bio-manufacturing value chain.
According to Xiang Zuoyao, the construction supervisor for Angel Yeast, the overall progress on special yeast and yeast protein projects has reached about 80%. Efforts are currently focused on developing public infrastructure such as landscaping, piping systems, and utility corridors. The current goal is to ensure all functional components are operational by the end of June, setting a solid foundation for upcoming production activities.
Meanwhile, Fu Zhijiang, equipment supervisor, highlighted that material acquisition and production preparation plans are advancing alongside the installation of essential equipment. Inspections for both construction and quality assurance are conducted in tandem to streamline processes and uphold safety standards. Notably, the installation of a 6.6-meter diameter and 28-meter height drying tower is underway, aimed at facilitating the efficient production transition.
The park's innovative approach includes systematic technological advancements, which involve yeast strain selection, large-scale high-density fermentation, and protein separation and extraction. This project aims to revolutionize traditional protein sourcing methodologies by utilizing brewer's yeast to synthesize microbial proteins, aligning with global sustainability trends and addressing consumer demands for healthier diets.
Once operational, the Baiyang Biotechnology Park is poised to significantly contribute to advancements in global bio-manufacturing. Zhang Yan, Chief Engineer at Angel Yeast, emphasized the potential of new protein sources, highlighting their environmental sustainability, resource conservation, and nutritional health benefits. He envisions that yeast-derived protein will emerge as a major industry in bio-manufacturing, affirming that Angel Yeast is committed to providing robust solutions for the increasing global demand for functional and sustainable biological products.
With this strategic investment, Angel Yeast not only aims to enhance its product offerings but also to play a pivotal role in transforming the food production landscape, addressing both health and environmental challenges presented by traditional food systems.
