KAPSARC to Lead Discussions at the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh
KAPSARC's Role at the 25th WPC Energy Congress
KAPSARC, a research and policy center in Saudi Arabia, is set to participate as a national partner at the 25th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) Energy Congress in Riyadh. This significant event will take place from October 11 to 15, 2026, marking the first time it is hosted in Saudi Arabia. Established in 1933, the congress brings together leaders from various sectors, including government officials, executives, policymakers, researchers, and innovators, to explore the dynamic forces reshaping global energy systems.
The theme for this year's congress is "Paths to an Energy Future for All," which highlights the various dimensions of energy security, investment, technology, and sustainability. KAPSARC will have over 20 leaders, researchers, and experts participating in executive, technical, synergy, and special programs throughout the event.
Contributions to Key Discussions
KAPSARC's involvement is diverse, featuring sessions focused on crucial energy topics such as the energy supply and demand, access to energy, natural gas, and the integration of ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) criteria into energy governance. Moreover, they will explore innovative concepts like the circular carbon economy, artificial intelligence applications in energy, and pathways for emission reductions in refining and petrochemical sectors.
One of the highlights will be a dedicated session called "Knowledge Sprint," where KAPSARC will discuss "Generative AI for Evidence-Based Oil Markets." This session will delve into how generative AI can enhance oil market analysis and policy research, featuring topics on AI-assisted data workflows, econometric analysis, responsible AI practices, and translating technical findings into actionable insights.
Engaging Discussions on Carbon Capture Technologies
Additionally, KAPSARC will participate in a "World Café" session examining carbon dioxide removal technologies. Experts will convene to discuss strategies for scaling solutions that include direct air capture, bioenergy with carbon capture, and biocarbon, as well as economic, regulatory, infrastructure, and market considerations that impact their deployment.
In the synergy program, KAPSARC will engage in discussions regarding accelerating the circular carbon economy through collaborative action and AI partnerships for energy innovation. This emphasizes the integration of research perspectives with practical applications in technology and sustainability.
Exclusive KAPSARC Pavilion
To further enhance knowledge sharing, KAPSARC will host an exclusive pavilion structured around five key themes: oil, transportation, clean energy, artificial intelligence, and collaboration. The pavilion will serve as a platform for visitors to engage with KAPSARC’s research insights and expertise in emerging energy issues, while also facilitating discussions among policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and participants.
Furthermore, the pavilion will feature the KAPSARC School of Public Policy (KSPP) and the Saudi Energy Leaders Assembly (SELA), providing additional avenues for leadership development, policy training, and knowledge exchange.
Through its active participation in congress sessions and a dedicated thematic pavilion, KAPSARC aims to bridge local research and policy expertise with global discussions on energy security, investment, technology, and sustainability. This alignment underscores KAPSARC's mission to promote understanding of energy, environmental, and economic issues on a regional and global scale.
