About 'Honey Cultivation' Program

'Honey Cultivation' is an initiative designed to foster interest in environmental issues through the lens of honeybees. Bees generally gather nectar from flowers within a 2-3 km radius, resulting in honey that reflects the local plant life in terms of taste and aroma, thus allowing visitors to tangibly experience the flora of their region.

Managed by the Seibu Landscape Company, the Yatsu Higata Natural Observation Center is one of eight locations throughout Japan dedicated to promoting environmental awareness through beekeeping education. By fostering local ties through honey and emphasizing the vital role of bees in our ecosystem, this initiative is pivotal for enhancing community engagement with nature.

Facility Overview: The Yatsu Higata Natural Observation Center is equipped with telescopes to enjoy views of the tidal flats and a resident ranger is available to guide guests through its natural beauty and provide various hands-on experiences.

Admission: Free for ages under 18; fees apply for other age groups, and group discounts are available. The center is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on Mondays (or the next day if Monday is a holiday).
