GeoCreates to Showcase Innovative AI App
In an exciting development for urban safety technology,
GeoCreates, a Tokyo-based architectural VR company, has announced its participation in the upcoming
SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025 event. This premier event, spanning from
May 8 to 10, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight, aims to bring together global startups, corporations, investors, and government officials under the theme
"Envisioning the Future of Sustainable Cities". At the event, GeoCreates is set to unveil an innovative
AI-based smartphone application for disaster prevention and safety diagnostics, developed in collaboration with the
Tokyo Fire Department.
Partnership and App Overview
The AI app, aimed at increasing fire prevention and disaster readiness among Tokyo's residents, utilizes smartphone technology to identify potential hazards in homes. By capturing images of their environment, users can receive insights on areas needing attention, thus allowing families and caregivers to better protect vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and persons with disabilities. This initiative aligns with the Tokyo Fire Department's efforts to enhance community awareness, especially in light of rising crime rates and other societal challenges.
The development process began in December 2023 when GeoCreates was selected for a public project spearheaded by the Tokyo Fire Department, addressing the growing needs of residents for accessible safety tools. Traditionally, fire department personnel conducted in-home assessments to advise at-risk individuals, but as the population of vulnerable residents increases, the demand for more scalable solutions has become critical. The AI app not only aims to alleviate the burden on fire service personnel but also empowers families and social workers to evaluate risk levels in homes directly, fostering a proactive approach to safety.
Dual Showcase and the Future of Safety Training
In addition to the AI application, GeoCreates will also participate in the
SMART CITY TOKYO Global Networking Night 2025, unveiling a
virtual evacuation training program developed in collaboration with
Nikken Sekkei. This training tool is particularly relevant given recent shifts in workplace dynamics due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as many individuals may be unfamiliar with emergency routes in buildings. Designed for remote implementation, the virtual training program facilitates large-scale participation from various locations, thus simulating realistic evacuation scenarios and enhancing preparedness for unforeseen emergencies. The platform also collects data on user movement and reactions, which can be invaluable for enhancing emergency protocols and designs.
