Midea Building Technologies Unveils Innovative Solutions for Sustainability at MCE 2026
Midea Building Technologies Showcases Next-Generation Sustainability Solutions at MCE 2026
At the prestigious MCE 2026 exhibition in Milan, Midea Building Technologies (MBT) stole the spotlight by revealing three significant innovations that emphasize sustainability and energy efficiency. The company is making strides in the HVAC industry by introducing its V9 VRF system, R290 heat pump series, and advanced data center cooling solutions, demonstrating its leadership in eco-friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient technologies.
The Midea V9 VRF System
Midea's latest V9 VRF system is built around two cutting-edge technologies: the electric control unit, ShieldBox II, and the environmentally friendly refrigerant R32. ShieldBox II, crafted from automotive-grade cast aluminum, is designed to reduce size by 70%, allowing for a larger heat exchanger and enhanced outdoor unit efficiency. The three-zone configuration offers IP68 class protection, while phase-change cooling maintains a stable coolant temperature of 30°C, extending the lifespan of components in extreme operating conditions. Notably, the V9 system has received a three-tier TÜV safety assessment for VRF systems using flammable refrigerants, ensuring adherence to rigorous international safety standards.
R290 Heat Pump Series
In addition to the V9, MBT introduced a comprehensive lineup of heat pumps utilizing the R290 refrigerant, with capacities ranging from 4 kW to 70 kW for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. The award-winning Mars Large R290 ATW heat pump is capable of delivering water temperatures up to 85°C, boasting a full DC inverter drive and dual compressor redundancy, ensuring reliable operation. With a compact footprint of just 0.72 m² and an A+++ energy efficiency rating, this device maintains 100% heating capacity at -10°C and 65% at -20°C. The Arctic Series M4 and Mars R290 ATW heat pumps were also featured, signing the transition to heating solutions based on natural refrigerants.
Data Center Cooling Solutions
Responding to the rising cooling demands of data centers, MBT showcased its liquid cooling solutions in an interactive diorama format. The system includes high-precision cooling distribution units (CDU), refrigeration walls, and magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers, achieving an annual PUE of up to 1.2. Key products showcased included the AirBoost Vera air-cooled centrifugal chiller with magnetic bearings and the cooling distribution unit. The AirBoost Vera is equipped with a dual power switching system and customizable THDi for reliable power supply, achieving high efficiency with outlet water temperatures up to 36°C and temperature differences of 20°C. Additionally, the system supports standard indirect natural cooling and is compatible with eco-friendly refrigerants, making it a robust solution for today's data centers. The CDU features multiple redundancy systems, leak protection, and comprehensive testing of key components, ensuring long-term reliability.
Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Midea Building Technologies is dedicated to providing integrated solutions tailored to the evolving demands of Europe’s transition to a green economy. Maintaining a focus on innovation and sustainability, MBT aims to create a smarter and lower-carbon future for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector. These initiatives position MBT as a pioneering force in fostering sustainable practices within the industry, striving to meet the future's energy needs while minimizing environmental impact.
