OOFOS Celebrates a Decade of Project Pink: A $5 Million Contribution to Breast Cancer Research

In a remarkable achievement, OOFOS, renowned for its Active Recovery footwear, proudly commemorates the 10th anniversary of its initiative, Project Pink. This philanthropic endeavor has raised over $5 million in contributions directed towards groundbreaking breast cancer research and patient care initiatives worldwide. Born in 2015, Project Pink was established in memory of Duncan Finigan, one of OOFOS' first employees who courageously battled stage IV breast cancer until her passing in 2019. The initiative aims to honor her legacy while playing a significant role in improving awareness and support for those impacted by breast cancer.

"Project Pink is more than just a charitable initiative for us - it's at the heart of who we are as a company," stated Lou Panaccione, Co-Founder and CEO of OOFOS. This commitment reflects the company’s core values and mission to create a positive impact in the ongoing battle against breast cancer. Over the last decade, this initiative not only raised millions but also became a cornerstone of OOFOS' corporate culture, fostering a deeper connection with their community. The guiding spirit of Duncan continues to influence the company’s charitable efforts.

Throughout its history, Project Pink has evolved into a global initiative, supporting various cancer charities such as the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in the United States, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity in the United Kingdom, and the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Australia. Each year, a portion of all sales from OOFOS.com directly benefits these charitable partners, thereby enhancing vital cancer research and facilitating patient care.

As part of the ongoing celebration of Project Pink's anniversary this May, OOFOS is set to launch a special three-shoe collection, with 10% of sales from each pair going to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This new line includes, among other designs, the OOmy Stride shoes available for both men and women, along with the unisex OOahh Fused slide. The collection is expected to be available on OOFOS.com and through selected retailers.

OOFOS recognizes the importance of providing comprehensive support beyond financial contributions. The brand collaborates closely with breast cancer professionals and patients, ensuring that their contributions offer not just footwear but meaningful experiences and connections for affected families. In addition, OOFOS sponsors events such as the Pan-Mass Challenge, where they not only participate but also fundraise for the cause, while donating shoes to healthcare workers at Dana-Farber, increasing their impact in the community.

Project Pink represents a collective effort towards building a community of support, raising awareness, and actively participating in the future transformation of patient care and breast cancer research. Panaccione reflected on the journey stating, "When we made our first donation in 2017, I promised Duncan we would reach $1M one day. Not only did we keep that promise, but now we have successfully surpassed the $5M mark, reinforcing our global mission." As OOFOS celebrates this pivotal milestone, they reiterate their commitment—this is just the beginning of their journey in support of those battling breast cancer. OOFOS is more than a footwear brand; it’s a symbol of hope and resilience in the fight against cancer.
