Meiji University Launches Smart Career Program for Women in Partnership with ManpowerGroup

Meiji University's Smart Career Program

In a groundbreaking collaboration, ManpowerGroup, a leading human resource service provider, has partnered with Meiji University to introduce the "ManpowerGroup Career Development Support Seminar" as part of its Smart Career Program for Women. This initiative aims to support the growing number of women's educational needs in the evolving labor market, particularly for those who have interrupted their careers due to childbirth and childcare responsibilities.

Background of the Initiative

The global labor market is in a state of rapid transformation, creating an urgent need for reskilling and upskilling among employees. According to the World Economic Forum's "Future of Jobs Report 2025," it is predicted that by 2030, 59% of the global workforce will require re-skilling, as approximately 39% of the essential skills needed for various jobs will change. In this context, 85% of companies recognize reskilling as a priority.

In Japan, encouraging the active participation of women in the workforce has become increasingly important. Many women, who due to various reasons have not been able to secure employment, face significant hurdles when attempting to re-enter the job market. A foundation in current workplace practices and market trends, along with practical skill development, is essential to help these women secure employment opportunities. Understanding the job market and effectively communicating individual strengths are vital in today's dynamic employment landscape.

About the Smart Career Program

The Smart Career Program at Meiji University aims to facilitate the return of women to work and help them advance their careers. The program includes:
  • - A foundational business course that spans four months on weekday mornings.
  • - A comprehensive business course presented over six months during weekday evenings and Saturdays.

These courses equip participants with practical and systematic knowledge in marketing and general business, tailored to their lifestyles and goals. By providing women with the tools and skills necessary for career development, the program empowers them to make informed decisions about their professional futures.

As part of the initiative, the upcoming seminar scheduled for July 29, 2025, will cover crucial topics, including:
1. Insights into the job market
2. Crafting an effective resume
3. Engaging workshops

It’s worth noting that the program’s approach takes into account the current trends in the employment landscape for women in Japan, thereby ensuring that participants are equipped with relevant and practical knowledge.
