Grand View Health Integrates with St. Luke's University Health Network for Improved Patient Care
Grand View Health Joins St. Luke's University Health Network
In a significant development for healthcare in Pennsylvania, Grand View Health has officially joined the St. Luke's University Health Network as of July 1st, 2025. After receiving all necessary federal and state regulatory approvals, this integration marks a new chapter in the history of both organizations, paving the way for enhanced patient care and resources across the region.
Located in Sellersville, Grand View Hospital is now the 16th campus of the St. Luke's health network. This merger is the culmination of a concerted effort that began nearly a year ago when both organizations expressed their desire to collaborate. In September 2024, Grand View and St. Luke's signed a non-binding Letter of Intent, followed by a definitive agreement on December 31 that same year.
A Perfect Combination of Excellence
Rick Anderson, President and CEO of St. Luke's, emphasized that Grand View and St. Luke's share a commitment to clinical excellence, a similar organizational culture, and a long-standing tradition of delivering high-quality, compassionate care to their communities. Doug Hughes, who took on the role of President and CEO of Grand View in 2022, will continue to lead the Grand View Campus under the St. Luke's umbrella.
The Board of Trustees at Grand View expressed overwhelming enthusiasm about joining St. Luke's, with Chairman Robert Loughery stating appreciation for both their community and St. Luke's reputation for exceptional care. The integration will leverage the strengths of both organizations to provide better access to healthcare services for the residents of Bucks and Montgomery counties.
History and Scope of Grand View Health
Grand View Health has been a cornerstone of the community since its establishment in 1913, being Bucks County's first hospital. Over the years, it has evolved into a nonprofit, community-focused health system employing approximately 2,000 staff members, dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of a growing population.
In contrast, St. Luke's University Health Network is a fully integrated, regional non-profit entity with an extensive reach. With approximately 21,000 employees and an annual revenue exceeding $4 billion, the network operates over 350 outpatient sites and has facilities throughout 11 counties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. St. Luke's hospitals are consistently recognized for excellence, earning 'A' grades for safety from Leapfrog and five stars in quality from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Boosting Community Health and Well-Being
One of the essential philosophies of St. Luke's is that healthcare is a local issue. This approach has enabled its affiliated hospitals to not only survive but thrive in their respective communities. Anderson noted that the integration of community hospitals into the network has proven highly effective, citing past successful integrations, including Quakertown, Allentown, and Miners hospitals.
Continuing this tradition, Grand View's integration into St. Luke's is expected to enhance the overall health and well-being of the communities it serves. It also indicates more significant opportunities for collaborative initiatives, research, and specialized services that will benefit patients and health professionals alike.
Looking Ahead
As Grand View Health integrates into St. Luke’s University Health Network, both organizations are poised to leverage their combined expertise, resources, and passion for patient care. The merger not only strengthens healthcare delivery in the area but also offers exciting prospects for innovation in clinical practices, technological advancements, and improved patient outcomes. The future looks promising as these institutions foster a culture of excellence and compassion, reinforcing their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services in the region.
