Global Fashion Collective x Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo S/S ‘26: Fashion’s New Voices
On September 2nd, 2025, the Global Fashion Collective, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, will host an exciting showcase during the illustrious Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo S/S ‘26 at Shibuya Hikarie Hall B. This event is designed to spotlight emerging talent from around the world, allowing new designers to share their innovative brand collections. Among the participants is AYAKA Oshita, a Japanese designer known for her avant-garde style, who will present 15 brand new creations.
Founded in 2017, the Global Fashion Collective aims to cultivate the next generation of fashion talent worldwide. The organization hosts showcases concurrently with premier fashion weeks, including those in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, targeting exceptional emerging designers eager to make their mark on the fashion industry.
This year marks the seventh installment of the event at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo, featuring nine designers from five diverse Asian countries and regions, including Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico, and Malaysia. Each designer presents collections brimming with creativity and inspiration, reflecting the rich tapestry of cultural influences and design philosophies across the continent.
AYAKA Oshita is set to captivate audiences with her collection titled "Metamorphose.” Gleaning inspiration from her journey as a designer since winning the 96th Soen Award, Oshita explores profound themes of transformation and emotional release through her fashion. Her collection aspires to depict the moment of liberation when suppressed feelings and aspirations relentless surface — a theme that resonates deeply with those who have experienced the struggle between inner desires and societal expectations.
Key Elements of AYAKA Oshita's Collection
Oshita’s designs seamlessly integrate fantastical elements such as wing-like silhouettes, flowing ribbons, and embroidered vines that symbolize freedom, change, and rebirth. Each garment acts as a canvas showcasing the artist's vision of what it means to break free from societal constraints.
In her own words, Oshita explains:
"The theme of my collection is metamorphosis. It captures the essence of transformation — shedding fears and worries to embrace one's true self.
