Training for Understanding and Supporting Dementia in Local Communities

Training for Community Awareness of Dementia

With emerging statistics revealing that about 1 in 3.6 individuals aged 65 and older have dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI), this condition has become a significant societal issue. In response, local organizations are gathering to implement a door-to-door training exercise aimed at enhancing community outreach and understanding of dementia. This initiative seeks to cultivate an environment where everyone can live safely and confidently.

Overview of the Training

The training will consist of teams of 5 to 6 members from various community organizations conducting individual visits to local households. During these visits, trained members will engage with residents, presenting scenarios related to dementia, such as a person struggling to recognize their own home. The goal is to provide these residents with a simulated experience of how to effectively respond to such situations.
