LanzaJet and KMG's Sustainable Aviation Fuel Project in Kazakhstan

In a significant step towards the future of sustainable aviation, LanzaJet, Inc., a leading proponent of next-generation fuel technologies, has advanced its partnership with Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company, KazMunayGas (KMG). During the Climate Week in New York, LanzaJet's CEO, Jimmy Samartzis, spoke at an event attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and KMG’s CEO, Askhat Khassenov. Together, they signed a pivotal agreement that officially propels Kazakhstan into the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) arena.

This project marks Kazakhstan's inaugural move into the realm of SAF, leveraging LanzaJet’s proprietary Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology, which transforms ethanol into sustainable jet fuel. The partnership follows a successful joint feasibility study, allowing the project to transition seamlessly into the engineering and design phase, known as Front End Engineering and Design (FEED).
