Dive into the World of Ocean Careers with Banana Kids
The general incorporated association, Umino Nippon Project in Tokyo, has teamed up with TV Tokyo for the special program "Working! Banana Kids" to recruit elementary school students across Japan who are passionate about pursuing ocean-related careers. The application period kicks off on August 25, 2025, and runs until September 30, 2025.
Students interested in marine professions are encouraged to research various ocean-related jobs—whether it be fishermen, aquarium staff, marine biologists, or any position linked to the sea—and compile their findings into a report for submission. This event aims to explore the diverse aspects of working with the ocean while highlighting the importance of preserving its beauty for future generations.
Application Process
1. Submitting the Ocean Career Report
Participants will freely investigate and write reports on their chosen ocean professions. They are encouraged to think creatively and express their interests, making this an excellent opportunity for students to engage with the marine world.
2. Presentation and Interview in Tokyo
From the submitted reports, approximately 20 elementary school students will be selected for a presentation event in Tokyo. Here, they will share their findings and participate in a program interview, further showcasing their insights and passion for ocean careers.
3. Real Job Experience
From the presentation event, the program will ultimately select 2 to 3 students for a once-in-a-lifetime hands-on experience in a real marine job. They will have the opportunity to work closely with ocean professionals and gain invaluable insights into the daily responsibilities of these roles. The program will document this journey, providing a unique look at what it’s like to work alongside those who dedicate their lives to the sea.
