Toyota Celebrates Historic 8 Millionth Sale of Certified Used Vehicles

Toyota's Remarkable Achievement: 8 Million Certified Used Vehicles Sold

Toyota Certified Used Vehicles (TCUV), a leading name in the certified pre-owned vehicle market, recently celebrated a remarkable milestone: the sale of its 8 millionth certified used vehicle. This accomplishment solidifies Toyota's position as the number one certified pre-owned vehicle program in the nation, showcasing its continuous commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

The historic sale took place at Sheehy Toyota of Laurel in Maryland, where an enthusiastic team joined representatives from Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) to commemorate this significant event. The record-breaking vehicle sold was a stunning 2024 Toyota Camry, beautifully finished in Supersonic Red. The celebration not only honored the vehicle's lucky buyer but also aimed to highlight the trust consumers place in Toyota’s vehicles for their safety, durability, and overall excellence.

During the ceremony, the customer received much more than just the keys to their new Camry. TMNA presented them with a check that covered the total purchase price of the vehicle, as well as a generous donation of $10,000 made in the buyer’s name to Active Minds – a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting mental health awareness among young adults. Active Minds stands out as a critical resource in today’s climate, and this contribution illustrates Toyota’s commitment to social responsibility.

"It's an honor to be part of TCUV's 8 millionth sale alongside our first-time customer and outstanding sales team. This historic milestone is a testament to our dedication to customer service and quality," remarked Chris Prender, general manager at Sheehy Toyota.

Launched in 1996, TCUV is the nation’s leading certified pre-owned vehicle program and has retained its title for an impressive 16 consecutive years. In order to achieve Gold Certification, a used Toyota must undergo a meticulous 160-point inspection, ensuring every aspect meets the rigorous standards set by Toyota. This thorough assessment includes checks for interior and exterior conditions, engine performance, and the overall operation of critical systems like brakes and electronic components, among others.

Owning a Gold Certified vehicle from TCUV also provides customers with comprehensive coverage, including a limited warranty of 12 months or 12,000 miles and a powertrain warranty covering seven years or 100,000 miles, as well as seven years or 100,000 miles of Roadside Assistance.

In 2024, TCUV further enhanced its offerings by introducing Silver Certification for vehicles up to ten years old and under specific mileage, providing more options and peace of mind for customers.

This celebration marks more than just a sales achievement for Toyota; it symbolizes the brand's longstanding reputation for making reliable vehicles that customers can depend on for years to come. With almost 64,000 employees engaged in the design, engineering, and assembly of nearly 47 million vehicles across North America, Toyota's impact on the automotive industry continues to grow.

Additionally, looking ahead, Toyota is also set to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle sector by beginning to produce automotive batteries in North Carolina starting in 2025, marking a significant step in the company's commitment to sustainable mobility.

With over 30 electrified vehicle options on the market today, customers can choose from a diverse range of vehicles that suit their lifestyles, proving that Toyota is not only committed to excellence in vehicle safety and reliability but also to pioneering the future of mobility.
