On October 18, 2025, Trustyyle, based in Chuo, Tokyo, successfully hosted the inaugural HR Compass 2025 conference at the Osaki Bright Core Hall. This groundbreaking event brought together over 200 professionals interested in human resources (HR), providing a platform to explore the evolving landscape of HR amidst rapid societal changes such as population decline and technological advancements.

Background and Purpose


In today's rapidly changing socio-economic environment, HR departments are required to make more sophisticated decisions and demonstrate flexibility than ever before. Many HR practitioners face fundamental questions regarding their roles and responsibilities within this shifting context, particularly concerning the impact of generative AI and other emerging technologies.

To address these challenges, the HR Library conceived the conference with the theme, "Where does HR come from, and where is it headed?" This concept invites participants to examine the history and business environment of HR while reflecting on the role of contemporary technology. The aim was to reassess the core of HR and redefine its relevance in the future.

Event Overview


The HR Compass 2025 conference featured 17 speakers from diverse backgrounds, including academia from Hosei University and the University of Tokyo, as well as industry HR leaders and HR Tech practitioners. Attendees engaged in keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions that explored three critical themes: the history of HR, accumulated research knowledge, and the implications of cutting-edge technology like generative AI.
