Cummings Graduate Institute Marks Graduation Ceremony for DBH Class
On May 12, 2025, the
Cummings Graduate Institute for Behavioral Health Studies (CGI) proudly celebrated the graduation of ten ambitious and committed graduates who have achieved the esteemed title of
Doctors of Behavioral Health (DBH). The event took place in Chandler, Arizona, situated on the ancestral homelands of the
Akimel O'odham and
Pee Posh Peoples. This ceremony not only honored the accomplishments of these individuals but also underscored their dedication to advancing integrated behavioral health through research, advocacy, and innovation.
Distinguished Graduates Showcasing Diverse Expertise
The graduation cohort is notable for its diversity and shared commitment to reshaping the landscape of behavioral health. Each graduate presented a unique project that addresses critical issues within the field. Here are some highlights of their remarkable achievements:
Dr. Jilian Aesir
Dr. Aesir, a STEM educator from California’s Central Coast, emphasizes the importance of engaging students in scientific and medical education. Her research focuses on adolescent suicidality and proposes a
population health framework aimed at improving mental health service delivery in schools.
Dr. Brandy K. Biglow
Co-founder of Renovation Integrative Health in Florida, Dr. Biglow’s project assesses burnout among healthcare professionals. Throughout her twelve years as a counselor and clinical supervisor, she has developed effective strategies to mitigate workplace challenges and promote self-care practices.
Dr. Eddie Lee Blakes Jr.
As the Founder/CEO of VR Psych Services LLC, Dr. Blakes is at the forefront of integrating
virtual reality into trauma care. His project examines the application of virtual reality in treatment methodologies which aim to expand access to mental health services for underserved communities.
Dr. Cory H. Cannady
Operating as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Tennessee, Dr. Cannady introduces a structured system for evaluating ABA therapy dosage recommendations for children. His research aims to resolve inconsistencies in treatment methodologies and improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Michelle Francis
With her strong background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Dr. Francis's project investigates how cultural factors influence treatment-seeking behavior in African American communities. Her work focus is on enhancing patient engagement through integrative healthcare solutions.
Dr. Jerrika Olivia Henderson
Dr. Henderson’s research highlights effective care management in improving community health outcomes. Her project investigates how personalized care plans can better serve patients facing mental health challenges.
Dr. Rhea L. Hill
Practicing in Dallas, Dr. Hill’s project links trauma with autoimmune diseases, advocating for the use of
equine-assisted therapies to bridge the gap in traditional treatment modalities.
Dr. Shadiase R. Jack
Hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Jack explores integrated healthcare models across the Caribbean, advocating for improved care coordination through advanced record-keeping technologies.
Dr. Markias Kaiyan Littlejohn
Specializing in sexual health, Dr. Littlejohn aims to destigmatize male sexual dysfunction by incorporating his model,
Sexological Interventions in Primary Care, which emphasizes direct responses to sexual health concerns.
Dr. Kenneth L. Roberts
With expertise in combined mental health and substance use treatment, Dr. Roberts proposes a new model aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for clinicians in trauma-informed care.
