YE DIGITAL Selected for Smart Bus Stop Project in Okayama City

In a significant step towards improving public transportation, YE DIGITAL Corporation, based in Kitakyushu, has been chosen as the successful bidder for the "Public Transportation Digital Signage System Construction and Operation Maintenance Services" in Okayama City. This initiative aligns with the city’s commitment to enhance public transport services and is set to run under contract number 2025011611-00.

Overview of the Project

The primary goal of this project is to provide clear and accessible transportation information for users by utilizing GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) data. Through this, smart bus stops will display up-to-date information, such as timetables and bus arrival notifications, in real-time.

Scope of Work

- Integrated Arrival Information System Construction: Developing robust systems to consolidate arrival information for users.
- Cloud-based Smart Bus Stop Services: Offering cloud solutions for smart bus stop operations.
- GTFS Data Support: Assisting in organizing and maintaining GTFS data for effective dissemination of information.
- System and Hardware Maintenance: Managing the upkeep of both systems and hardware, including the smart bus stops.

Contract Duration

Preparations for this project will start in fiscal year 2027, with operations expected to commence from April 1, 2028. The contract stipulates that maintenance and operational support will continue until March 31, 2030.

Okayama City’s Initiatives

Okayama City has deemed the period from fiscal year 2026 to 2030 as the “Key Implementation Period for Local Public Transport Revitalization.” The city is progressing with its regional public transport improvement action plan, aiming to enhance the convenience of public transport services. In conjunction with the smart bus stop project, the city plans to install multiple smart bus stops across various locations before the end of fiscal year 2028.

This initiative will allow for the consolidated broadcasting of public transport information at smart bus stop locations. Furthermore, users will be able to verify integrated arrival information via their smartphones, significantly improving user convenience and streamlining on-site operations for service providers.
