Sophie L. Gibson Honored with the Trailblazer Award
Sophie L. Gibson, a pioneering entrepreneur and the CEO of VIVO360, Inc., has been awarded the distinguished Trailblazer Award by the Atlanta Jamaican Association (AJA). The honor was bestowed upon her during the Annual Independence Ball Scholarship Awards held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, celebrating her significant contributions to marketing, digital innovation, and community advocacy.
A Moment of Celebration
The prestigious event was a gathering of notable figures including David Cutting, Barbados Honorary Consul, and other dignitaries. It was a night dedicated to celebrating Sophie Gibson's impressive career, marked by her unwavering dedication to enlightening and empowering communities through impactful storytelling.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sophie made history in 2001 as the first woman—and first woman of color—to establish a digital marketing agency in the United States. Her agency, VIVO360, Inc., has since executed outstanding campaigns for renowned brands and institutions such as NAACP Image Awards, Delta Air Lines, the NFL, and the City of Atlanta. Notably, VIVO is part of an elite group, representing just 0.3% of advertising firms owned by Black women in the U.S.
Acceptance Speech
During her acceptance, Gibson expressed her gratitude for the recognition from her own community. "This award celebrates our shared heritage, resilience, and creativity. It's a call to keep telling our stories—boldly, authentically, and globally—so the next generation knows they, too, can dream big, break barriers, and change the world," she remarked.
The Trailblazer Award is one among many accolades that Gibson has received, including the AMY Award and accolades from the American Marketing Association. Beyond her professional achievements, she actively participates on the boards of organizations like Saint Augustine's University and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy, emphasizing her commitment to advocating for women and children.
Upcoming Memoir
In an exciting announcement, it was revealed that this October, Gibson's memoir titled "Sopossible" will be released. This deeply personal account chronicles her journey from Kingston to becoming a CEO, illustrating her transformation of challenges into triumphs and her continuous quest to promote purpose-driven success.
