Disney Musicals in Schools Invites Elementary Schools to Apply for Stage Connect Program

Disney Musicals in Schools Launches Stage Connect

Disney Musicals in Schools, an initiative by the Disney Theatrical Group, has announced the opening for applications for its Stage Connect program. Designed to enrich the experience of public elementary school students across the U.S., this initiative aims to instill a love for musical theater by providing invaluable resources and support for schools interested in producing their very own Disney musical. Schools wishing to participate can submit their applications until February 9, 2026.

The Magic of Musical Theater

For 17 years, Disney Musicals in Schools has been transforming the landscape of performing arts education across various public elementary schools. The program has successfully granted over 125,000 students the opportunity to shine in their inaugural school musical, engaging them in performing arts in a fun, accessible environment. In a significant expansion effort, Stage Connect aims to bring Disney's theatrical magic to even more schools by extending its reach nationwide.

The heart of Stage Connect lies in its comprehensive online teacher training program. This program equips educators with the tools and confidence needed to successfully manage a musical theater production. Currently, 71 schools are actively using the Stage Connect platform to facilitate theatrical performances for the 2025-2026 school year.

How Stage Connect Works

Schools selected for Stage Connect will benefit from free access to an online platform that hosts various resources, including performance rights for popular Disney shows such as "Frozen," "The Lion King," and "Aladdin." Additionally, schools will receive a ShowKit that includes scripts, music tracks, and other essential materials to support the production of their chosen musical.

Participants like Alana Gillet, a teacher from Green Valley Elementary in New Albany, Indiana, have shared their enthusiastic experiences with the program. "Stage Connect has helped us bring theater to our school by providing videos, resources, and a wealth of knowledge that has enabled our team to establish a musical theater program. We've seen our students embrace this curriculum—it's delightful to watch them flourish and express their creativity on stage!"

Cheyanne Harris from Endeavor Elementary in Cocoa, Florida, echoed similar sentiments, stating, "This program has opened doors for students who had no previous experience in theater. It’s uplifting to see them humming songs during class transitions and practicing choreography during recess. The excitement is palpable, and witnessing their journey has been incredibly rewarding."

Resources at Your Fingertips

Stage Connect is spearheaded by Broadway experts L. Steven Taylor and Bonita Hamilton from "The Lion King," who guide educators through the production process with demonstration videos and downloadable resources. Participating teachers will immerse themselves in the Stage Connect online courses before commencing their rehearsal activities. The platform also offers on-demand materials and live webinars to ensure that teachers feel supported throughout the creative process.

By getting involved with Disney Musicals in Schools and the Stage Connect program, educators contribute to Disney's broader commitment to inspire future generations of storytellers.
