Creating a Society Where Children Aspire to Be Great Adults

Creating a Society Where Children Aspire to Be Great Adults

On April 1st, marks a special day dedicated to dreams, and our organization proudly supports this initiative known as April Dream. This press release highlights a vision held by the Sawakami Foundation.

Our dream is to build a society where future generations can naturally look at the adults around them and think, "I want to live like that." This vision doesn't revolve around extraordinary success or wealth, but rather centers on kindness, compassion towards others, a deep respect for nature and culture, and the dedication to living a genuine and mindful life.

We uphold the motto of creating a better world, continuously questioning what kind of society we can leave for future generations. While laying a foundation of economic independence, we seek a dignified and beautiful way of life, aiming for a society where human kindness and compassion can flourish. Each act of kindness becomes a beacon of inspiration for future generations, which we believe will be passed on to the next era.

Specific Initiatives Towards Our Vision

We have consistently engaged in various activities aimed at connecting to the future. One notable effort includes the preservation of historical pilgrimage routes in the Kumano region of Wakayama Prefecture. We work on the maintenance and restoration of these paths that have been cherished along with the prayers and activities of the people, ensuring they are passed down to future generations. By confronting the culture and scenery that have been preserved over the years, we believe that each small step we take contributes to the realization of our vision of creating a better world.

Introducing a New Project

We are excited to announce the launch of the Archives Project, which aims to pass on cultural heritage to future generations. As the first step towards fulfilling our dream, this project seeks to document and preserve the diminishing traditions, cultures, skills, and livelihoods of local communities through video recordings. Our goal is not just to archive these records, but to encapsulate the emotions and atmosphere of the region, providing future generations with insights, learnings, and seeds for new creativity.

Preserve Your Local Culture for the Future

As part of this initiative, we welcome individuals to submit their recorded videos. Capture and document moments of landscapes, lifestyles, cultures, and techniques that you wish to preserve. By accumulating individual records, the richness and depth of our nation’s culture will be passed down to the next generation.

Conclusion

The future is not crafted by a select few; it is shaped by the accumulation of our daily choices and actions. Moving forward, we remain committed to valuing human kindness and the significance of culture, ensuring that we hand down a society we can all be proud of to the next generation.
