Event Report: Empowering Women's Health in the Workplace
On October 8, 2025, Persol Career, a leader in job placement services, organized a significant event focused on women's health at work, emphasizing the importance of feminine care. This event brought together knowledgeable figures from various sectors, including femcare companies, experts, and celebrities, to share insights and experiences related to challenges faced by working women. The gathering was facilitated by the Health Literacy Department, a community formed by 24 enthusiastic employees from Persol Group, which has been actively promoting women's health issues since 2021.
The event took place at the Persol Career Azabudai headquarters with a hybrid format, enabling both in-person and online attendance. The agenda included discussions on the latest trends in the femcare market and the significant issues surrounding women's menstruation and PMS symptoms.
Speakers and Their Insights
Tomomi Usami (Brand Manager, D-Nee Cosmetic)
Tomomi shared her perspectives on the importance of understanding the health challenges working women face, especially in environments where temperature and working conditions fluctuate. She expressed her desire to support women affected by menstrual pain and other issues by conducting events that raise awareness of these health matters. Tomomi emphasized that understanding varies among women regarding their symptoms and experiences, pointing out the common struggle of balancing work and health.
Chiaki Ito (Talent and Artist, Avex Management)
Chiaki reflected on her own journey towards recognizing the impact of PMS and other physical challenges on women's productivity at work. She admitted that, growing up, she accepted discomfort as part of life. However, following her shift into her 30s and experiencing pregnancy, she encountered the term 'femtech,' which propelled her interest in understanding and addressing PMS symptoms better. She advocated for the effective use of femcare products to alleviate various symptoms and urged others to become more educated on these subjects.
Mariko Kina (Co-representative of Hitachi Group Women's ERG)
Mariko drew attention to the challenges within male-dominated workplaces, where discussing female health issues can be awkward, especially with male superiors. She emphasized the pressing need for raising awareness of women's health challenges across society while recounting her own experiences as an engineer. Her story highlighted the need to simplify dialogue around these topics, proving crucial for fostering a supportive work environment.
Takahiro Shirai (Executive Manager, Persol Career)
Takahiro spoke about his experiences managing a predominantly female department and remarked on the reluctance of employees to discuss their health challenges openly. He stressed that fostering an environment where employees feel safe to communicate about their health is vital for organizational growth. He also shared significant statistics that revealed the impact of PMS and menstruation on professional performance and attitudes, which resonated strongly with attendees.
Ai Tokioka (Facilitator and Head of Health Literacy Department)
Ai highlighted the necessity of creating safe spaces for open discussions about women's health topics, noting how such dialogues often go unnoticed in everyday life. She reaffirmed the event's message that understanding health issues like PMS and menstruation is a collective responsibility that surpasses individual concerns, suggesting a cultural shift is needed to facilitate these conversations.
Moving Forward: A Shared Responsibility
The event made it clear that women’s health issues should not be viewed as isolated challenges but as societal ones, calling for a united approach to support working women effectively. Conversations about femcare and femtech are not just trends but are integral to crafting a workplace where everyone can thrive.
Persol Career remains committed to advancing this dialogue and advocating for a supportive environment that understands and respects diverse health needs across all life stages. As laws around workplace equality and family leave evolve, our initiatives aim to provide ongoing seminars and partnerships that address the health concerns workers experience, leading to greater awareness and understanding within corporations.
