On May 4, 2026, which is celebrated as Greenery Day in Japan, the Furano Nature School Tokyo campus will hold a unique environmental education program at Showa Kinen Park, under the supervision of renowned writer Satō Kuramoto. This special event is designed to help individuals learn about Earth's environmental issues in an engaging manner, making it accessible to those who might find it difficult to participate during regular weekdays.

Exciting Opportunities for All Ages


The program will offer a special discount for participants: adults can join for just 1,000 yen (normally 2,250 yen), while elementary to university students can participate for only 500 yen (down from 1,000 yen).

This event includes two sessions—morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and afternoon from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM—each lasting approximately two hours. In addition to the educational experience, participants can also enjoy the delightful spring scenery, including vibrant flower fields and fresh greenery within the park. About Furano Nature School


The Furano Nature School, founded and led by Satō Kuramoto, famous for the TV series From the North Country, offers programs in Furano, Hokkaido. The Tokyo campus was established in 2014 and operates under Seibu Landscape Co., Ltd., employing a hands-on approach to raise awareness about environmental topics through enjoyable and comprehensive activities. The guidance provided gives participants a clear and impactful understanding of environmental issues.

Through engaging the five senses, participants will navigate through several learning modules included in the program: "Green Classroom," "Barefoot Path," "1 Meter of Earth," and "4.6 Billion Years of Earth's Path." Each activity lasts around 90 minutes and is designed to make complex Earth history though approachable and relatable with dramatic narratives from dedicated instructors.

Showa Kinen Park Overview


Showa Kinen Park is a national park located in Tachikawa, Tokyo, established as part of a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Emperor Showa's reign, providing one of Japan's finest urban park experiences. Its theme is "Restoration of Greenery and Enhancing Humanity," featuring ample green space lined with cultural and educational resources.

The park is open from 9 AM to 5 PM on the day of the event, with the Green Culture Zone opening earlier at 8:30 AM.
