A Cultural Heritage Initiative

The three islands encapsulate a significant chapter in Japan’s industrial history. Gunkanjima gained fame from the TBS drama and other media, while Nakano Island remains uninhabited, known for its park and cemetery. Takashima, the largest of the three, represents modern coal mining efforts initiated by British merchant Thomas Glover and has maintained a small population.

The tour, part of the cultural preservation initiative funded by the Cultural Affairs Agency, represents a collaboration between NPO J-heritage and C&R Corporation, demonstrating a commitment to reviving these historical sites.

Join the Journey

C&R Corporation not only focuses on cultural heritage but actively engages in community revitalization initiatives, collaborating on numerous projects ranging from unique nighttime tours in Kyoto to leveraging technology for local engagement. The goal is to foster community spirit and generate awareness of historical significance while providing enriching experiences for both residents and visitors alike.
