PMI U.S. Launches 'Thanks for Giving' Campaign
In a heartfelt initiative aimed at highlighting the importance of community service, Philip Morris International's U.S. businesses, known as PMI U.S., proudly announced the launch of the 'Thanks for Giving' campaign. This project serves as a rallying cry for both businesses and individuals, encouraging them to acknowledge and support the charitable organizations and individuals who tirelessly work to strengthen communities, especially as the nation prepares for Thanksgiving and #GivingTuesday.
The spirit of generosity is at the forefront of this campaign, which underscores the significant role community service plays throughout the year, rather than just during the holiday season. As Marian Salzman, Senior Vice President of PMI U.S., articulated: "#GivingTuesday started as a single day dedicated to goodwill, but the real impact materializes when generosity and accountability become habitual choices in our daily lives."
Since its inception in 2022, PMI U.S. has committed more than $35 million towards community initiatives, which is indicative of a 400% increase in employee participation in community service programs. "Saying thank you holds immense power, but embodying that gratitude every day, with both transparency and intent, truly deepens its significance," Salzman emphasized.
From 2024, PMI U.S. has generously contributed over $740,000 to 91 organizations across the Midwest, focusing on vital areas such as veteran support and economic empowerment. This charity work has not only advanced community welfare but has also allowed various organizations to create a meaningful impact. Notably, the company has allocated more than $165,000 for veterans and military support, alongside over $525,000 for initiatives aimed at economic empowerment.
Joshua Parish, Co-Founder of VETLIFE, shared the transformative effect of this support: “PMI’s backing didn’t just finance a program; it extended our reach to veterans who had previously fallen through the cracks. Thanks to this grant, we’ve successfully connected thousands of veterans and families to essential benefits, mental health services, and a genuine sense of community. It has helped us forge a safer and stronger future for those we serve daily.”
The campaign further emphasizes PMI U.S.’s WeCare program, which empowers employees to nominate nonprofits for funded donations. In 2025 alone, this initiative funneled over $1.86 million into more than 400 local organizations across 44 states and the District of Columbia, cumulatively contributing to PMI U.S.’s $35 million mission across the nation since 2022.
Midwestern beneficiaries of this initiative also include several notable nonprofits: the Alzheimer's Association, 1J Foundation, It Takes A Village No-Kill Rescue, Detroit Dog Rescue, and The Nightbirdie Foundation. Collectively, PMI U.S. employees were integral in directing nearly $218,000 in company-sponsored funds to support numerous nonprofit organizations within the Midwest region.
The 'Thanks for Giving' campaign is emblematic of PMI U.S.'s commitment to pragmatic philanthropy – an approach to corporate giving that emphasizes listening to community needs, investing for tangible impacts, and fostering collaboration across various sectors to uplift those engaging in meaningful service every day.
Moreover, PMI U.S. is steadfast in its vision for America's future.
