Introducing BinGo: A Revolutionary Advertisement
In a world grappling with the adverse effects of overtourism and littering, WASABI Inc. has launched an innovative advertising service named
BinGo. This initiative creatively merges
environmental activism and
offline advertising to tackle pressing urban issues.
The Background: Addressing Overtourism and Litter
As tourism rebounds in major cities, the problem of overtourism is becoming increasingly evident, especially in areas like Shibuya, Harajuku, and Asakusa. With more visitors comes a surge in litter, primarily takeaway containers and plastic bottles tossed carelessly onto the streets. Despite municipalities implementing stricter regulations and fines against littering and street drinking, the issue persists, exacerbated by a decline in public trash bins due to security and management concerns. We noticed that simply relying on regulations and penalties wouldn't solve this problem. Hence, the idea for BinGo was born, flipping the conventional wisdom by bringing trash bins to the people.
What is BinGo?
BinGo features staff carrying specially designed trash bins that also serve as advertising spaces. These employees roam popular districts, collecting litter from tourists and passersby while promoting various brands. This approach creates a unique opportunity for potential customers to engage with advertisements through a positive action: disposing of trash. Unlike traditional advertising media, BinGo offers a deeper and more meaningful brand experience.
Why BinGo Stands Out
1. From Disliked to Appreciated Advertising
Passersby often feel grateful for having their trash collected, fostering a sense of appreciation for the brand advertised on the BinGo unit. Companies utilizing this service don't just increase brand recognition; they also boost their image as contributors to city beautification.
2. The Power of Offline and Social Media Amplification
BinGo's unique appearance and engaging activities capture the attention of passersby, often leading to social media shares (User Generated Content). Videos showcasing BinGo's operations have already amassed over
4 million views on social platforms, with many positive testimonials stating how they welcome this type of advertising and wish to see more.
3. Active Engagement
Unlike passive billboard ads, BinGo encourages passersby to approach its staff to dispose of their waste. This proactive interaction significantly enhances communication opportunities, making it highly effective for sampling, distributing coupons, and building customer relationships.
