Tripti Sinha comes to Internet2 with over three decades of extensive experience in the technology sector. Currently serving as Chief Technology Officer at the University of Maryland, she is responsible for leading the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure and Internet Global Services unit in the Division of Information Technology. Sinha also serves as the executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), a regional network dedicated to research and education, showcasing her deep commitment to advancing cyberinfrastructure and internet technologies.
Her leadership journey in internet governance is noteworthy, prominently recognized for her role as the chair of the board at ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). Her responsibilities in previous positions have included enhancing network operations and supporting high-performance computing initiatives, thus positioning her perfectly to carry forth Internet2's mission.
Vision for Internet2
Gregory Washington, President of George Mason University and chair of Internet2's board, expressed confidence in Sinha's capabilities. He stated, “Sinha brings strategic vision, technical depth, and proven leadership to build on Internet2's nearly 30-year legacy during a transformational time for research and education.” Sinha's collaborative spirit and focus on innovation will be critical as she addresses the needs of the organization’s diverse member base, which includes universities, governmental bodies, and a range of corporate partners.

Cynthia Larive, Internet2 Board Vice Chair, led the search committee composed of prominent leaders from various educational institutions, ensuring a thorough evaluation of candidates to find the most suitable leader for the organization.
“Following a rigorous national search, we welcome Tripti as the next leader of Internet2,” said Larive. “With clarity, authenticity, and purpose, she is well-positioned to expand upon our collective successes and deliver new value to uplift the research and education community.”
