NorthStar Anesthesia Expands Partnerships in Georgia
On October 1, 2025, NorthStar Anesthesia revealed its significant expansion of ambulatory surgery center (ASC) partnerships throughout Georgia. This move reaffirms NorthStar's leadership status in high-quality anesthesia care at a scalable level. With now over 60 active partnerships in the state, NorthStar is setting a benchmark for ambulatory surgical excellence guided by principles of transparency, clinical autonomy, and long-term collaboration.
A Legacy of Service
For more than four decades, NorthStar's Sentry team has worked closely with numerous hospitals alongside single- and multi-specialty ASCs in Georgia. Approximately 50 anesthesiologists and over 200 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) currently provide a range of services that encompass everything from simple outpatient procedures to complex orthopedic and cancer surgeries.
“NorthStar's success in Georgia is grounded in intentional growth combined with a strong commitment to local leadership and the autonomy of care teams,” stated Chris McWilliams, the President of Clinical Operations for NorthStar's Sentry team. “We've created a sustainable partnership model that empowers our CRNAs while allowing anesthesiologists to engage only when necessary, effectively aligning with the financial and clinical objectives of ASCs.”
A Focus on Quality and Transparency
NorthStar's strategic expansion in Georgia is deliberate rather than opportunistic. Recently, the Sentry team welcomed five new ASC partners to its portfolio, enhancing the reach of services. The new ASCs include:
- - OrthoAtlanta (Austell)
- - Professional Eye Surgery Center (Dalton)
- - Takle Eye Center (Griffin)
- - Apex Spine and Neurosurgery Center (Suwanee)
- - A Spine Surgery Center (Atlanta area)
These partnerships are built on a cost-transparent framework that promotes financial sustainability, combined with exceptional revenue cycle management practices that adopt a data-driven approach to maximize financial performance. The staffing method supports CRNA independence while ensuring anesthesiologists are available for engagement as needed.
Building a Strong Future
NorthStar's commitment to staffing is further evidenced through its development of one of the strongest recruitment channels nationwide. With connections to over 65 CRNA training programs—including those at Augusta University, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and Emory University—NorthStar ensures a steady influx of 5–10 new graduates each year who are well-prepared to offer efficient, patient-focused care.
A Nationally Relevant Model
As the healthcare landscape increasingly transitions towards outpatient care, the success of NorthStar in Georgia presents a replicable model for expanding ASC partnerships elsewhere in the country. By providing consistent anesthesia services across varying complexity, from routine ophthalmic procedures to high-volume orthopedic operations, NorthStar empowers ASCs to achieve optimal results with minimal resources while adhering to the highest standards of safety and patient satisfaction.
“Georgia exemplifies the potential that can be realized when you merge transparency, robust recruitment strategies, and clinical autonomy,” remarked Cindy Myers, Vice President of NorthStar's ASC Division. “We are eager to replicate this effective model across more ASCs nationally.”
