Celebrating 80 Years: Magazine House Exhibition
Magazine House, one of Japan’s most beloved publishing houses, is gearing up for its 80th anniversary with a spectacular exhibition titled "Magazine House Exhibition: From Ginza to the World." This special event, in collaboration with
Ginza Sony Park, will be held from
October 10 to 25, 2025. The event aims to celebrate the rich history of Magazine House while connecting with the future through a variety of interactive and engaging content.
A Showcase of History and Modernity
This exhibition will feature an extensive display of historical covers from magazine publications under the Magazine House banner, showcasing
80 years of creativity and cultural commentary. Notable exhibits include the
"Magazine House 80-Year Cover Exhibition," along with a special installment highlighting the work of renowned artist
Takashi Murakami and his creation of the character
Magahouse-kun. This character, inspired by the Magazine House logo, was sketched on-site during a visit by Murakami to Ginza Sony Park.
The new visual featuring Magahouse-kun splashed with rainbow colors symbolizing flowers and skulls will serve as the exhibition's main artwork, capturing the essence of joy and renewal.
Exciting Events and Special Editions
In addition to exhibitions, the venue will also host various events featuring celebrities linked to popular magazines like
POPEYE and
Tarzan. As part of the event's offerings, attachments and pop-up shops will provide fans with exclusive merchandise, from stylish apparel to limited-edition products inspired by popular titles like
Olive.
The
first floor of the exhibition will transform into a vibrant space curated by Magazine House's editorial teams. This includes the
POPEYE POP-UP SHOP, where visitors can find unique merchandise adorned with the publication's logo as well as event-exclusive items. Other highlights include a specialty coffee stand by
BRUTUS and interactive features leveraging
Google’s AI Gemini.
A Cultural Exchange Platform
The fourth floor will serve as an event stage for several prominent figures associated with magazines like
Tarzan and
POPEYE. Events such as
Tarzan Day with LES MILLS promise a day filled with fitness programs, including BODYBALANCE and BODYCOMBAT sessions. Meanwhile, science enthusiasts can look forward to the
“Grab It! Science Daman” event, where kids will experience exciting experiments led by the science genius Shin, adding an educational twist to the celebration.
Engaging Workshops and Special Guests
Various unique discussions and workshops are scheduled throughout the exhibition duration. Live events hosted by esteemed personalities will cover cultural reflections spanning the last three decades. Complements to these talks include opportunities to take pictures, making it a chance not to be missed for attendees.
Participants can also sign up for the
