Folds of Honor Breaks Scholarship Distribution Record for 2026-2027 Academic Year

Folds of Honor, a renowned foundation dedicated to providing academic scholarships to families of fallen or disabled military service members and first responders, has announced a remarkable achievement for the 2026-2027 academic year. The organization reported that it has distributed more than 13,000 educational scholarships valued at nearly $60 million. This announcement marks a significant milestone, as it not only sets an all-time record for single-year scholarship distributions but also highlights the ongoing need for financial support among qualified applicants.

Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has provided close to 86,000 scholarships amounting to nearly $400 million. As the foundation approaches its 20th anniversary in 2027, it has set an ambitious goal to reach 100,000 total scholarships awarded to honor its commitment to military families who have made incredible sacrifices.

Lt Col Dan Rooney, the founder and CEO of Folds of Honor, expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support received from patrons across the nation. "I want to thank patriots nationwide for their unwavering support to our families who have sacrificed so much for our communities and country," he stated. "While funds are important, these scholarships demonstrate that their loved ones have not been forgotten."

The foundation experienced a notable 12% increase in the number of applications compared to the previous year, showcasing the growing need for educational assistance among military families. Notably, the inclusion of first responders into the scholarship program has resulted in an astounding 670% growth in scholarships awarded since their introduction in 2022. The states leading in scholarship acceptance include Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, and Georgia, each contributing to the foundation's incredible impact nationwide.

Achieving these milestones has been a collaborative effort, relying on the generosity of individual donors, corporate partners, and various fundraising initiatives. One of the key contributors, Anheuser-Busch, reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Folds of Honor, enhancing its philanthropic total to $37 million and supporting 7,400 scholarships.

Looking ahead, Rooney emphasized the importance of continued community involvement, stating, "With the help of individuals, corporate partners and our chapters, we want to eclipse 100,000 all-time scholarships for our 20th anniversary next year. It's a lofty goal, but our supporters continue to demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the mission."
