Child Labor and Business: Seminar on the Upcoming 2025 Report and Corporate Responsibilities

On October 27, 2025, a significant seminar will discuss the launch of the 'Child Labor White Paper 2025' presented by ACE, a certified NPO based in Taito, Tokyo. This document, produced in collaboration with Owl Consulting Group and Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting, aims to provide an in-depth overview of child labor issues and the responsibilities businesses have in addressing them. With the growing global emphasis on business and human rights, this report, released five years since the last edition, highlights the crucial need for companies to recognize and manage child labor risks within their supply chains.

The seminar's keynote speaker will be Pichamon Yeophantong, the chair of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights. She will share insights on the evolving dynamics of business and human rights worldwide and discuss challenges and expectations specific to Japan. The event will also feature a panel discussion with experts active in various sectors, exploring practical strategies for businesses to engage with child labor issues responsibly.

Child labor remains a highly sensitive and significant human rights risk, demanding urgent action from those in corporate leadership roles. Over recent years, an increasing number of Japanese companies have begun implementing human rights due diligence processes, catalyzed by the development of diverse domestic and international regulations. This seminar serves as an excellent opportunity for corporate stakeholders, media representatives, NGOs, and anyone interested in the intersection of business and human rights to enhance their understanding and become actively involved in driving positive change.
