Zenken Hosts Cultural Exchange with Indian Care Workers in Ibaraki

Zenken's Cultural Exchange Event for Indian Care Workers

Zenken Corporation, headquartered in Minato Ward, Tokyo, is set to host a cultural exchange event with Indian care workers on August 6, 2025, at the Kirara no Mori facility, managed by the social welfare organization Goka Airinkai, in Ibaraki Prefecture. This initiative aims to deepen understanding of Indian care workers and to enhance the acceptance of foreign personnel in Japan's caregiving sector.

The event not only serves as a platform for cultural exchange but also addresses the increasing interest in foreign care workers within the context of Japan's specialized skills system. By facilitating direct interaction with Indian care workers, participants can gain insights into their personalities and values, breaking down preconceived notions and fostering an atmosphere conducive to greater acceptance of foreign talent in caregiving roles.

During the event, a roundtable discussion will provide attendees with the opportunity to engage with three Indian staff members working at the Kirara no Mori facility. This session will promote a realistic understanding of the caregiving landscape and offer reassurance regarding collaboration with foreign caregivers. Representatives from various caregiving facilities and governmental organizations are expected to participate, making it an excellent networking opportunity.

Collaboration with NSDC International

Zenken’s partnership with NSDC International, a subsidiary of the National Skill Development Corporation of India, is instrumental in the success of this event. Through this collaboration, Zenken provides Japanese language education and support for sending personnel to Japan, contributing to the training and retention of high-quality foreign caregivers. Such efforts are part of a broader strategy to strengthen Japan-India relations in the caregiving sector.

Background of the Event

Ibaraki Prefecture has been actively accepting foreign care workers under the specialized skills program, with a noted interest in Indian caregivers. The exchange aims to share real-life experiences and address any challenges the caregivers face while working in Japan. This not only informs stakeholders about the current scenario but also helps in forming a more robust framework for welcoming foreign workers.

In April 2025, Zenken was granted a contract from Ibaraki Prefecture to support the national examination for caregivers' technical interns through language acquisition and caregiving knowledge development initiatives, marking the province as the third location after Niigata and Tottori.

Zenken remains committed to collaborating with local governments to ensure that foreign caregiving personnel are integrated into the community and remain in their positions for extended periods, thereby enriching the local workforce.
