Rakuriz Expands into Kansai: New Dance Classes for Seniors in Japan
In an exciting development for senior women in Japan, the dance community Rakuriz, operated by STORY plus, is set to expand its reach with new locations in Osaka, Yokohama, and Shinjuku. With the addition of 12 new classes, Rakuriz now boasts a total of 30 classes nationwide, meeting the high demand for dance programs in these regions. The initiative has also led to the introduction of three new instructors following a rigorous audition process.
New Locations and Instructors
The expansion signifies Rakuriz's debut in the Kansai region, which has been highly anticipated by local dance enthusiasts. The newly appointed instructors, Ayako Takada, Mika Kai, and Naomi Kurokawa, are not just experienced dancers but passionate individuals who have risen through the ranks after auditioning for teaching positions. They embody the spirit of determination and success that Rakuriz promotes, ushering a new chapter for the dance community.
Each of the new instructors will lead classes at their respective locations twice a week, creating opportunities for seniors to form connections and foster a sense of belonging. The classes are catered to help older adults maintain an active lifestyle and provide what Rakuriz calls a “heartfelt place” for social interaction and fulfillment.
The Vision Behind Rakuriz
Founded by renowned dance instructor Reiko Tomita, Rakuriz has quickly become a sensation among senior women in Japan. Tomita has gained a significant following on Instagram, where she shares inspirational messages and dance content that resonates with many. Her vision of empowering senior women has made her a role model in the community, inspiring many to enroll and pursue their dreams of dance.
“I want to create places where people can dance and have fun, regardless of their age or city,” Tomita has often expressed. Her belief in the principle that “now is the time to shine” drives the mission of Rakuriz, attracting many seniors who aspire to embrace their joy through dance.
Community and Connection
The response to the new classes has been overwhelming, with participants eager to join under the guidance of Tomita’s esteemed teaching philosophy. The classes are not just about dance; they are a form of therapy and connection, where seniors can find companionship, improve their health, and engage in joyous movement.
New classes are already scheduled to begin:
- - Shinjuku with Ayako Takada starting on June 24 and July 7
- - Yokohama with Mika Kai on June 27 and July 2
- - Osaka with Naomi Kurokawa on July 8 and July 14
Each of these locations will offer four classes weekly, creating robust schedules that encourage frequent attendance and participation.
