Prologis Urban Tokyo Kinshicho 1: A Modern Logistics Hub Unveiled
Prologis, a global leader in logistics real estate, recently held a ceremony to mark the completion of its latest urban logistics facility, Prologis Urban Tokyo Kinshicho 1, located just a short distance from JR Kinshicho Station in Koto City, Tokyo. This new facility is the seventh in the Prologis Urban series, which began its offerings in 2020 and has been designed to cater to the rising demand for efficient urban logistics solutions.
Overview of Prologis Urban Tokyo Kinshicho 1
The newly inaugurated facility stands at five stories and spans 6,470 square meters, intended to house multiple tenants, including Sora Japan Co., Ltd., an international express delivery company, and a facility equipment manufacturer set to occupy the third floor. The building also has spaces available for more tenants, with a special focus on companies that require tailored logistics solutions.
Prominent figures attended the ceremony, including Hiroshi Suzuki, President of Sora Japan, Yuta Sashida, President of Sashida Warehouse Co., Ltd., and Masahiko Matsuri, President of Dainihon Doboku Co., Ltd., which was responsible for the design and construction of the facility.
Location and Accessibility
Situated approximately 600 meters (about an 8-minute walk) from Kinshicho Station on the JR Sobu Line and around 450 meters (6 minutes on foot) from Sumiyoshi Station on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon and Toei Shinjuku Lines, Prologis Urban Tokyo Kinshicho 1 offers excellent commuting convenience. It’s only 400 meters away (about 2 minutes by car) from the Kinshicho exit on the Shuto Expressway, making it ideal for last-mile deliveries not only in the city center but throughout the greater Tokyo area. The surrounding area is developing rapidly, with improvements coming from urban expansion projects like the extension of the Yurakucho Line, boosting both mobility and commercial activities in the vicinity.
Facility Features
Each floor has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate a single tenant for its exclusive use. The first floor features specialized zones for last-mile delivery operations, with a dedicated area for vehicle access and a large truck bay for upper-floor tenants. Floors two through five are equipped with air conditioning, support heavy floor loads of 1 ton per square meter, and provide substantial electrical capacity, making them suitable for R&D hubs, service parts storage, and showrooms—functions that traditional office buildings often fail to accommodate.
Natural light floods the office areas thanks to the large windows facing the south, allowing occupants to enjoy views of the seasonal changes in the nearby Sarue Onshi Park.
Anticipated Developments
The product of a joint venture with Sashida Warehouse, the development of Prologis Urban Tokyo Kinshicho 1 responds to the functional modernization needs of Sashida’s existing properties. This collaborative effort marks the first partnership between the two companies.
To support potential tenants, Prologis will hold a facility viewing event on July 17 and 18, 2025, with multiple time slots available for interested parties to explore the logistics capabilities and operational features of the new hub.
Future Plans
Prologis Urban is a logistics facility brand that aims to provide efficient distribution solutions in densely populated cities like Tokyo, London, New York, and Paris. With the successful launch of the seventh building, Prologis is already planning the development of the eighth in Koto City to further meet the growing urban logistics demands. This brand is not only addressing last-mile delivery challenges but is also bridging the gap between traditional office spaces and logistics facilities, evolving into a versatile business hub.
As urban logistics continue to grow in importance, Prologis remains committed to offering innovative solutions that cater to the complex needs of businesses in metropolitan areas.
