Subway® Introduces 'Blueprint': A Revolutionary Dining Experience in EMEA
Subway® has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the dining experience for its customers with the introduction of 'Blueprint'. Unveiled on October 8, 2026, this innovative concept is designed to modernize how guests order and enjoy their meals across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). With plans to implement Blueprint in all new and remodeled restaurants starting January 2027, Subway is not only updating its physical spaces but also refining its brand experience to better align with the needs and preferences of today’s consumers.
Understanding Blueprint
The foundation of the Blueprint concept lies in extensive feedback from both guests and franchisees. It represents a comprehensive rethinking of the restaurant environment and experience, focusing on three key areas: the restaurant design, menu offerings, and overall brand messaging.
Firstly, the restaurant will feature a modern and digitally connected ambiance, designed to be flexible according to guest preferences. This new layout will prioritize intuitive navigation and clear communication, allowing customers to focus on the quality of their meal while efficiently serving those who create it. Ingredients will be prominently displayed, emphasizing freshness and quality, as guests navigate through their customization options.
Secondly, Subway is expanding its menu to enhance guests' dining occasions. This includes the introduction of a breakfast range, offering coffee made from 100% Arabica beans. A new 'Grab & Go' option has been specifically created for busy locations where customers need something quick and fresh. The concept of 'Subway After Dark', currently being piloted in the Netherlands, will redefine the evening dining experience with a unique menu, a cozy atmosphere, and a more indulgent offering, including items like Mac 'n' Cheese and footlong pizzas.
Lastly, Subway is launching a new brand proposition titled 'Get Your Own Way'. This campaign will convey a unified message across all communication platforms, reaffirming Subway's commitment to personalization. It reflects the brand's belief that life's too short to settle for meals that don’t cater to individual tastes.
The Implementation Phase
Blueprint's rollout is significant, with the first locations already open in the Netherlands and the UK, setting the stage for a wider launch across the region. This major initiative coincides with a year of strong sales performance, positioning Subway for expansion as it seeks to almost double its footprint in EMEA within the next five years.
Tracy Gehlan, President of Subway EMEA, emphasized the importance of satisfying customer desires: "Guests want to eat their way, on their own schedule, and Blueprint is how we deliver on that. We celebrate our guests' individual choices, from how they order to when they visit."
As Subway moves forward with this ambitious plan, it aims to create restaurants that are not only places to eat but also engaging environments where guests can truly express their preferences and enjoy tailored dining experiences every day. With the introduction of Blueprint, Subway is set to redefine what it means to dine out, spotlighting the brand's flexibility and commitment to customer satisfaction. This transformation is more than just an upgrade; it’s a statement about the future of fast-casual dining, grounded in the needs and desires of modern consumers.
