Maker's Mark Unveils Second Release of Star Hill Farm Whisky: A New Flavor Experience

Maker's Mark Celebrates Nature with Star Hill Farm Whisky 2026

Loretto, Ky. – April 22, 2026
Maker's Mark® has announced an exciting second release of Star Hill Farm Whisky, introducing a new mash bill and marking a return to wheat whisky after 70 years. Following its inaugural release in 2025, this beloved whisky has quickly gained acclaim, having been awarded World's Best Wheat Whisky for 2026.

The Star Hill Farm Whisky reflects Maker's Mark's dedication to sustainability, emphasizing the importance of regenerative agriculture in crafting exceptional flavors. Rob Samuels, the eighth-generation whisky maker and managing director, articulates that investing in quality land pays dividends in flavor, reaffirming the core philosophy that has guided the brand since its establishment.

The 2026 release showcases a blend of hard red and hard white wheat types, in addition to the signature soft red winter wheat used in previous creations. This innovation highlights how diverse grains contribute to a fuller flavor profile. The whisky is crafted from two distinct mash bills: one features entirely malted wheat, while the other consists of 70% wheat and 30% malted barley. The final blend comprises 27% wheat, 62% malted wheat, and 11% malted barley, resulting in a richer aromatic complexity compared to the 2025 version.

Master distiller Dr. Blake Layfield describes the 2026 expression as a journey from its initial taste to the finish. Upon sipping, expect aromas of molasses, fig, and nuanced baking spices. The flavor continues with vibrant notes of citrus, juicy pear, and buttery shortbread, concluding with a gentle cinnamon finish.

A significant honor associated with this whisky is its Estate Whiskey certification, a distinction awarded for using locally sourced grains exclusively produced on estate-owned land. This recognition aligns with the brand's commitment to defining sustainability leadership within the industry.

Last year, Maker's Mark launched the Maker's Mark Regenerative Alliance, aimed at promoting regenerative agricultural practices. The initiative has already seen successful conversions of 58,000 acres of conventional farmland into certified regenerative operations. With over 14 partners engaged, the Alliance seeks to inspire restaurants and bars to adopt sustainable sourcing, enhancing consumer awareness through storytelling and engagement.

The Star Hill Farm Whisky 2026 will have an ABV of 58.2% (116.4 proof) and will be priced around $100. It will be available through selected retailers in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan. Additionally, the Maker's Mark Distillery offers unique experiences where visitors can enjoy guided tours paired with cocktails that emphasize flavor derived from natural ingredients.
