Launch of the Infini D50 Telescope
Sightron Japan, headquartered in Shinjuku City, Tokyo, is set to release the beginner-friendly
Infini D50 telescope, which has previously been available only in select specialized astronomy stores. The general release date is on
July 18, 2025.
Product Features
The
Infini D50 features a
50mm aperture and a
540mm focal length. This refractor telescope set comes with a user-friendly
Mini AZ mount and various eyepieces, combining ease of use with quality optics. This high-quality
acromatic refractor telescope is developed by experienced optical designers at Sightron Japan and is assembled carefully by artisans in their factory located in
Tainai City, Niigata Prefecture.
The Infini D50 is designed to prioritize
visibility and usability, catering to beginners while also appealing to more experienced users looking for high-quality performance without being overly complicated.
Optical Design
Even though it employs a traditional
acromatic lens, the Infini D50's
F10.8 ratio enhances overall optical performance by reducing aberrations and producing sharper images. This design is the result of thorough analysis by skilled designers who have meticulously refined the light pathway within the telescope.
Viewing Quality
The
lens, which serves as the heart of this telescope, utilizes high-quality Japanese precision optics. It is crucial to note that having good lenses alone doesn’t guarantee an excellent viewing experience; the internal structure and finishing techniques play a significant role.
The Infini D50 has been treated with a matte black coating to maximize lens performance and includes an
aperture control ring to reduce stray light interference, resulting in high-contrast images. Despite its compact size, users can observe intricate details of the moon's craters, Jupiter's bands, Galilean moons, and Saturn's rings. While aimed at beginners, its performance impresses even dedicated enthusiasts.
User-Friendly Design
Typically, telescopes are equipped with a finder scope to help users locate celestial objects. However, traditional finders can be challenging to adjust, causing frustration for beginners who might have trouble locating targets. The
Infini D50 simplifies this with an
adjustment-free open-site finder, utilizing two fixed aiming points on the telescope's body to intuitively locate celestial bodies while viewing through a low-power eyepiece. This design enables first-time users to operate the telescope smoothly without hassle. Additionally, the system is compatible for users wishing to upgrade to a more advanced finder, thanks to its standardized finder base.
Adjustability is another significant focus in this telescope's design. The focusing knob is larger than typical for telescopes in this class, allowing for silky-smooth adjustments that enhance the observational experience.
Mini AZ Mount
The
Mini AZ mount boasts a lightweight, compact design that is user-friendly and easy to transport, making it an excellent companion for outdoor observations. It utilizes a
free-stop mechanism for seamless tracking of celestial bodies with adjustable resistance for personalized handling.
Moreover, it is equipped with all-around fine motion controls, allowing users to track objects effortlessly, making the observing process much smoother for both beginners and experienced astronomers. The included three-section tripod can be adjusted to suit various observational styles, with an auxiliary tray for eyepieces and accessories.
Accessories Included
The Infini D50 comes with two eyepieces (10mm and 23mm) and a diagonal mirror. The significant aperture generates magnifications of
54x with the 10mm eyepiece and
23x with the 23mm. The
diagonal mirror is particularly beneficial for observing objects high in the sky, making viewing more comfortable.
Versatility is key; the telescope is compatible with standard
31.7mm eyepieces, allowing for greater magnification if desired. Additionally, the package includes the
Sightron Japan Original Star Observation Guidebook titled
“Hoshiten Kanbō”, a colorful 52-page primer on basic star observation knowledge and seasonal highlights, enhancing the overall stargazing experience.
