Stellantis Announces Major Investment in Georgia Parts Distribution Center
Stellantis Invests Over $41 Million in Georgia
Stellantis continues its commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities with the announcement of a significant investment—over $41 million—towards building a state-of-the-art Mopar Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Forsyth, Georgia. This facility, covering approximately 422,000 square feet, is strategically located about 60 miles south of Atlanta and aims to bolster the company's parts distribution network across the southeastern United States.
With an intent to streamline operations, this new facility is expected to create approximately 90 jobs represented by the United Auto Workers (UAW). The investment will not only deliver faster service to dealers and customers associated with Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, Ram, Alfa Romeo, and FIAT brands but also modernize the way parts are stored and retrieved within the distribution chain.
Darren Bradshaw, senior vice president of Mopar North America, expressed the gravity of this investment by stating, "This facility represents a critical investment in Mopar's long-term growth strategy and our ability to support the dedicated workforce that drives our success." He highlighted that the investment is tailored to equip UAW-represented employees with advanced technologies to ensure exceptional service delivery, underlining Stellantis' commitment to efficiency and sustainability.
One notable feature of the new PDC is the implementation of the AutoStore automated storage and retrieval system, a cutting-edge solution that employs 66 robots operating within a high-density grid of bins. This technology allows for rapid retrieval of parts, significantly reducing order wait times and improving overall efficiency. By utilizing automation, Stellantis aims to enhance accuracy and control over inventory, ultimately streamlining the entire distribution process.
Sustainability is also at the forefront of this project. The facility will incorporate energy-efficient technologies and sustainable building practices, aligning with Stellantis' broader commitment to minimize its environmental impact. This initiative builds upon Stellantis' previous investments, which have reached nearly $500 million aimed at enhancing its North American parts distribution network.
Earlier this year, the company launched a $64 million PDC in East Fishkill, New York, and in July, they announced a groundbreaking $388 million investment for a Metro Detroit Megahub—setting the stage for the largest PDC project in Stellantis' history. These investments collectively illustrate the company’s commitment to strengthening the Mopar network across North America, reflecting a pivotal shift towards more efficient and environmentally-conscious operations.
