Orange EV Launches Scholarship Program to Support Employees

In an inspiring initiative aimed at improving educational opportunities for its workforce, Orange EV, a prominent manufacturer of zero-emission terminal trucks, has unveiled the Orange EV Cares Scholarship at Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC). This scholarship program is made possible by a generous endowment from Wayne Mathisen, the co-founder of Orange EV.

The establishment of the scholarship underscores the significant contributions of Orange EV employees in the company’s journey since its inception in 2012. Over the years, Orange EV's Kansas City headquarters has become a hub for skilled manufacturing, specializing in the design and production of electric terminal trucks and battery-integrated EV fast chargers. This scholarship not only reflects the firm’s commitment to its workforce but also aims to foster educational advancement for employees who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Wayne Mathisen highlights the motivation behind this initiative, stating, "Since Orange EV's founding in 2012, our company's success has stemmed from attracting and nurturing the finest talent. This scholarship represents our commitment to investing in the team members who have dedicated their efforts to our growth."

Scholarship Details

The Orange EV Cares Scholarship is intended for full-time employees of the company, granting preference to those enrolled in KCKCC degree or certificate programs and demonstrating financial need. Applicants are required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, and the funds awarded must be allocated towards approved educational expenses.

The application periods are well-structured, with spring applications opening on September 15 and closing on November 5, while fall applications will be accepted from March 15 through May 5. Interested employees can submit their applications through the KCKCC Foundation’s scholarship portal, where they can find comprehensive information about the process.

Mike Crouch, Executive Director of the KCKCC Foundation, commended Orange EV's commitment, stating, "Seeing community partners like Orange EV step up to support our students is both inspiring and impactful. Wayne's generosity reflects a genuine commitment to helping students succeed, and we are grateful for Orange EV's ongoing partnership and belief in the mission of KCKCC."

Community Engagement Through the Blue Devil Golf Classic

In addition to introducing the scholarship, Orange EV has further demonstrated its commitment to community engagement by sponsoring the Blue Devil Golf Classic. This annual fundraising event plays a crucial role in supporting student-athletes at KCKCC by providing scholarships, equipment, team travel, and facility improvements. Such contributions enhance the athletic programs and promote a culture of excellence among students.
