Universal Technical Institute Launches New Campus in Atlanta

Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE: UTI), a prominent provider of workforce solutions, has officially unveiled its new campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The inauguration took place in Smyrna and was marked with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting attended by over 100 regional leaders, employers, and community partners. This represents UTI's first educational facility in Georgia, aiming to bolster technical training in key industries.

During the event, Todd Hitchcock, Executive Vice President of Strategy, Growth and Operations, highlighted the critical need for skilled workers across the nation. He emphasized that Georgia anticipates over 10,000 job vacancies annually in the skilled trades areas offered at the new campus. Hitchcock stated, "We look forward to collaborating with local leaders to connect them with skilled professionals ready to contribute to their fields."

Smyrna Mayor Derek Norton expressed optimism regarding the opportunities the new campus will create, stating, "This new facility in Smyrna is arriving at a crucial time when there's increasing demand for skilled trades professionals. UTI-Atlanta bridges the gap between the growing need for skilled trades and the rising interest among high school students in pursuing technical education."

The Atlanta campus spans 150,000 square feet, capable of accommodating around 1,500 students. The institute offers a range of training programs, including automotive, diesel mechanics, aviation, electrical, robotics and automation, HVACR, and welding. This diverse curriculum is designed to equip students with the practical skills needed in today’s job market.

Sharon Mason, President and CEO of the Cobb Chamber, commented on the significance of UTI's investment in the local community, highlighting the importance of accessible skilled talent to attract and retain businesses. She remarked, "Welcoming Universal Technical Institute to Cobb County not only presents new educational opportunities for our students but also strengthens the workforce that businesses need to thrive."

Industry representatives also acknowledged the vital role of the new campus in nurturing a capable workforce. Danny Huffaker, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing at NAPA, commented on their partnership: "Our collaboration with UTI aims to provide clear pathways into rewarding skilled trades careers, enabling us to better meet the technician demand in our industry. We are proud to support this initiative with $75,000 in scholarships for students at the Atlanta campus."

Campus President Tod Gibbs noted the warm reception UTI-Atlanta has received and expressed enthusiasm for being part of the local community. "We're here to build strong partnerships and ensure that our students gain the practical skills required for immediate employment, supporting the ongoing development of the Atlanta area."

Looking ahead, UTI plans to launch another campus in the Atlanta Metro area, focusing on healthcare and dental training. Concorde Career College-Atlanta is set to open in 2027, pending regulatory approvals. This expansion reflects UTI’s commitment to providing diverse educational opportunities tailored to meet the demands of various industries.

Founded in 1965, Universal Technical Institute has established itself as a leader in workforce education within the transportation, healthcare, and skilled trades sectors.
