Millstone Medical Elevates Testing Leadership with New Appointment
In a significant move aimed at strengthening its capabilities in testing services, Millstone Medical Outsourcing has appointed Michael Quin as the Senior Director of Laboratory Services. This announcement, made on September 22, 2025, comes at a crucial time when the demands for efficient and reliable testing services in the medical device industry are growing stronger.
Quin’s appointment adds a wealth of experience to Millstone Medical’s leadership team, further solidifying the company’s commitment to enhancing its testing services for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the medical device sector. Over the past year, Millstone has marked significant milestones in its testing capabilities, notably with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art ISO 17025-certified testing facility spanning over 25,000 square feet. This facility is designed to meet the increasing demands for comprehensive testing, allowing for faster lead times and a broader array of services which are currently being evaluated and implemented.
“Michael brings invaluable expertise in sterility assurance and laboratory operations, making him the ideal choice to spearhead our next phase of growth in testing,” remarked Karl Neuberger, CEO of Millstone Medical. The rising regulatory pressures, especially from the FDA and international markets, are necessitating rigorous testing and compliance protocols, and Quin will be instrumental in ensuring that Millstone's services meet these industry standards.
Quin boasts an impressive 25-year career in the medical device and pharmaceutical realms, having held prominent positions in renowned companies such as Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy, Amgen, and Medtronic. His extensive experience encompasses sterility assurance validations and contamination control, equipping him with the knowledge necessary to tackle the intricate challenges faced by OEMs in today's market. Quin earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Science in Technology Management from Bridgewater State College. He is also a respected member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) Sterilization Working Groups, contributing to laying down industry policy and regulatory guidelines.
“Millstone stands out as a leader that is making substantial investments in testing services for OEMs,” Quin expressed. He highlighted the unique advantages offered by Millstone’s vertically integrated model, which combines packaging, testing, and logistics, creating a seamless process. This holistic approach promises to enhance the value provided to OEM partners while ensuring stringent sterility assurance protocols necessary for patient safety.
As the industry evolves under stricter regulatory frameworks such as FDA QMSR and EU MDR, medical device manufacturers are under growing pressure to validate sterility, packaging integrity, and product performance effectively. Millstone’s strategic investments in testing capabilities and its leadership’s expertise position it as a reliable partner for OEMs looking to streamline their operations while maintaining compliance.
