Huawei Introduces Intelligent RAIL 2.0 at InnoTrans 2026

During the InnoTrans 2026 event, a pivotal platform for the railway transportation industry held from September 22-25, Huawei unveiled its latest advancements: the Intelligent RAIL 2.0 solution. This innovative approach aims to revolutionize the global railway sector, providing smart solutions designed for multiple operational scenarios. The event saw industry leaders interacting with global clients and partners as they explored the evolution of railway technology.

Raymond Zuo, the President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, highlighted during the keynote that the intelligent era is paving the way for stakeholders to examine how digital technologies can be embedded within their core business frameworks to address long-standing challenges within the railway sector. He noted that AI applications are expected to deepen integration into core railway systems and that standardization of these AI applications will become progressively critical.

The event also featured influential figures such as Mohamed Mezghani, Secretary General of UITP (International Association of Public Transport), and Lidia Signor, who presented a discussion on the role of global intelligence and automation in metro systems, emphasizing the positive impacts that AI can bring to operational efficiency and safety.

Lidia announced the release of a new research report titled “AI-driven Intelligent Railway Operations,” developed jointly with the China Association of Metros (CAMET). This report provides insights into how AI solutions have been implemented across various systems, including construction, operation, and maintenance of metro lines.

Zuo elaborated that the shift from GSM-R to FRMCS (Future Railway Mobile Communication System) signifies a new era where preventive and condition-based maintenance will dominate, reflecting broader trends in digital transformation of railway operations. As freight transport transitions towards service-oriented logistics models and passenger experiences emphasize seamless travel, the role of digital intelligence is expected to grow exponentially.

Huawei's innovative strategy, dubbed “Intelligent RAIL,” focuses on enhancing railway safety, efficiency, integration of services, and sustainable development. This strategy integrates smart technologies across various components of rail operations, from infrastructure development to equipment maintenance. At InnoTrans, Huawei also unveiled the new generation of its Intelligent RAIL 2.0 system, comprising 20 tailored solutions across three core areas: construction, passenger and freight transportation, and equipment maintenance. These solutions address critical challenges within the industry, making them adaptable to specific business needs based on various operational scenarios.

To date, Huawei has established partnerships with over 50 major railway clients globally and operates in more than 300 urban rail systems, covering over 180,000 kilometers of rail infrastructure. This positions Huawei not only as a leading provider of ICT products but also as a trusted ally for those seeking to undergo digital transformations in this smart era.
