Huawei Unveils Intelligent RAIL 2.0 to Accelerate Global Railway Digitization
Huawei Unveils Intelligent RAIL 2.0
In a remarkable showcase at InnoTrans 2026, held from September 22 to 25, Huawei revealed its latest technological innovation, Intelligent RAIL 2.0. This initiative aims to advance the global digitalization of the railway industry, offering sophisticated solutions tailored to various scenarios.
The launch event gathered key players from the rail industry, including the UIC (International Union of Railways) and UITP (International Association of Public Transport), along with clients and ecosystem partners from around the globe to explore the future of rail transportation. As the industry evolves, the integration of cutting-edge technology becomes paramount for addressing existing challenges and enhancing operational efficiency.
During the event, Jean-Michel Evanghelou, Director of Digital Systems Innovation at UIC, emphasized the importance of the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) in establishing a robust digital foundation for railway operators. The ongoing development and integration of AI applications into core railway systems highlight the increasing necessity for standardization within the sector.
Raymond Zuo, President of Huawei’s Smart Rail Business Unit, noted that as society transitions into the intelligent age, various stakeholders are seeking ways to embed digital and intelligent technologies into their core operations to mitigate longstanding issues. His insights underscored the imminent shift in infrastructure from GSM-R to FRMCS, the evolution towards condition-based predictive maintenance, and the transformation of freight transport into an end-to-end service model that embraces multimodal logistics.
Moreover, Zuo articulated that passenger services would evolve to deliver seamless travel experiences. He spoke to the growing integration of digital technologies in engineering and construction, accentuating improvements in safety and operational efficiency across the railway network. By leveraging innovative strategies and leading global partnerships, Huawei introduced its
