Energy Fuels Welcomes Jeffrey Olsen to Board of Directors
Energy Fuels Inc., a prominent player in the critical materials sector, announced the appointment of Jeffrey Olsen to its Board of Directors on November 4, 2026. Olsen brings to the board a wealth of experience, particularly within the mining industry, as well as significant financial and operational leadership skills. He will also serve on the Audit Committee as a Financial Expert, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sound financial governance.
A seasoned executive, Olsen has held notable positions in renowned global mining and industrial organizations. His tenure as President and CEO of Boart Longyear, a leading mining services company, spanned from 2016 to 2024. During this period, he spearheaded a strategic restructuring of the company, aiming to strengthen its capital structure and enhance its technological capabilities in drilling and orebody intelligence. Prior to this leadership role, he served as Boart Longyear’s Chief Financial Officer from 2014 to 2016, demonstrating a solid background in financial management.
Before joining Boart Longyear, Olsen dedicated 18 years to Rio Tinto, where he held various senior financial and commercial positions. Notable roles included Chief Commercial Officer of Rio Tinto Iron & Titanium and Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto Minerals and Rio Tinto Borax. His early career included financial and business evaluation responsibilities at companies such as Kennecott Utah Copper, General Chemical Corporation, and Xerox Corporation.
Ross Bhappu, the President and CEO of Energy Fuels, praised Olsen's appointment, stating, “Jeff brings an exceptional combination of mining industry leadership, financial expertise, and commercial experience to our Board.” Bhappu highlighted the relevance of Olsen’s experience in managing complex capital structures and navigating global commodity markets, which will be instrumental as Energy Fuels pursues its strategic objectives and expands its critical materials operations.
Olsen is not new to board service; he currently holds non-executive director positions at Dyno Nobel Ltd.—a global explosives provider—and Savage Companies, a logistics and industrial services firm based in Utah. He is also the chair of the Audit Committee at Savage Companies, showcasing his dedication to maintaining rigorous standards in financial governance.
Academically, Olsen is well-equipped for his role, holding an MBA from the University of Rochester and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah. He now resides in Utah, where he continues to contribute to the sector through his diverse roles.
