SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store Set to Reopen with Creative Update in Early 2026

SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi Store: A Creative Transformation

On February 20, 2026, the SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi store will unveil its refreshed look after six and a half years since its grand opening in autumn 2019. Situated on the first floor of the prestigious Daimaru department store, this vibrant location has consistently attracted a daily influx of customers. The renovation is designed to preserve the essence of the store while incorporating minimal yet impactful creative adjustments to enhance the shopping experience.

A Thoughtful Renovation Process

The store will remain open during the renovation process. The updates will be implemented gradually after business hours, ensuring that customers can continue to enjoy their shopping experience without interruption. The main feature of the store will retain its signature soft green terrazzo, which has beautifully complemented its overall aesthetic and functionality over the years. Instead of a complete overhaul, the plan involves making essential modifications that will optimize existing fixtures and shelving. This approach reflects SHIRO’s commitment to sustainability and thoughtful design, with an emphasis on preserving what has proven to be successful.

To elevate the shopping experience, SHIRO will expand the number of checkout counters, allowing for a smoother transaction process. Additionally, the store’s touch-up stations and sinks will be creatively reimagined into product display fixtures, while the storage capacity will be increased to allow a swift replenishment of products. A uniform design will unify the space, featuring stainless steel tabletops on the displays and expansive visual merchandising areas at each end of the store, intended to immerse customers further into the brand's world.

Embracing the Store's History

The renovation will also honor the history of the building. A marked “23H” on the right wall, inscribed during the original construction, will remain as a nod to the structure’s past, providing a sense of continuity amidst the changes. By maximizing the use of existing features and only altering what is necessary, SHIRO aims to create a space that resonates with both history and modernity.

SHIRO's Commitment to Sustainability

In conjunction with its 15th-anniversary vision, SHIRO is dedicated to achieving a zero-waste initiative, embodying the philosophy of “not discarding, not creating anew.” This ethos is woven into the fabric of the SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi store's update, focusing on making the shopping experience more accessible and enjoyable for customers while maintaining eco-friendly practices. The decision to keep the remodeling limited and focused arose from insights gathered directly from staff and customer interactions, which provided invaluable input on how to elevate the store’s functionality.

This newly revamped SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi store promises to enhance the shopping experience for customers, cultivating a space where they can engage more deeply with the brand.

Meet the Designer

The store's redesign is spearheaded by Hiroyuki Ogura from the design firm DRAWERS. His focus on aesthetic appeal and practicality is matched with a deep sense of responsibility towards sustainable product design. Alongside the SHIRO Daimaru Shinsaibashi store, Ogura has also lent his expertise to other SHIRO locations, including SHIRO Seongsu and SHIRO Sapporo Stellar Place. Furthermore, he designed the newly established MAISON SHIRO, an accommodation facility in Hokkaido, which opened in 2024.

About SHIRO

SHIRO was founded on the simple principle of creating products that its creators would personally use daily. It emphasizes ethical production methods, utilizing naturally sourced ingredients to craft skincare, makeup, and fragrance products.
