FORTA Welcomes Bruce J. Christensen as New CEO
FORTA has officially appointed Bruce J. Christensen as its Chief Executive Officer, a strategic move as the company seeks to enhance its growth trajectory. Christensen's impressive background in the specialty construction materials sector, accompanied by his extensive experience, positions him as a suitable leader to advance the company under the ownership of The Heritage Group.
With more than three decades of expertise, Christensen joins FORTA after serving as President in the United States and Canada for Master Builders Solutions. In that role, he was responsible for overall profit and loss, while also acting as the Global Chief Technology Officer. His professional journey has included significant roles at MBCC Group, BASF Construction Chemicals, and Degussa Construction Chemicals, providing him a diverse range of experiences across various regions including North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
This diverse background is invaluable as Christensen prepares to lead FORTA into its next chapter. Speaking about Christensen’s appointment, Amy Schumacher, CEO of The Heritage Group, remarked, "Bruce brings outstanding industry expertise, but what gave us the greatest confidence was the leader behind the résumé. He leads with integrity, builds strong teams, and shares the values that define our company."
Christensen holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Minnesota, graduating with high distinction. His academic credentials are further underscored by his status as a co-inventor on 14 U.S. patents and author of over 50 professional publications.
In his own words, Christensen expressed his excitement about joining FORTA, stating, "I am drawn to FORTA because of the strength of the product portfolio, the quality of the team, and the long-term commitment of The Heritage Group. This is a business built on a strong foundation, and I look forward to partnering with the team to accelerate what is already a compelling growth story."
Christensen is also known for his active participation in the construction and concrete industries. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program and is a member of the board of trustees at the Concrete Advancement Foundation (CAF). Additionally, he has contributed to the American Concrete Institute and the American Society for Testing and Materials.
