Strengthening Recruitment for IT and Construction Engineers
Human Resocia, a comprehensive human resource services company based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is making strides in enhancing the recruitment of overseas engineers in the IT and construction sectors. Recently, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with four prominent institutions, including the National Institute of Technology Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), one of Indonesia's most distinguished engineering universities.
This collaboration aims to bolster the hiring framework for overseas graduates, focusing primarily on IT and construction engineering. With this new partnership, Human Resocia has now formed relationships with five universities and a total of 36 educational institutions in Indonesia. The company is committed to expanding these collaborations to support overseas talents aspiring to work in Japan while addressing the growing shortage of engineers in the domestic IT and construction sectors.
Key Points of the Collaboration
- - The establishment of an MOU with four renowned technical universities in Indonesia, including ITS.
- - Collaboration in the recruitment of graduates specializing in IT and construction fields, aiding their transition to work in Japan.
- - Initiatives to support the arrival and employment of overseas talents, amplifying efforts to resolve the acute shortage of IT and construction engineers in Japan.
Background
Japan has been experiencing a severe shortage of IT engineers, especially with the increasing demand for digital transformation (DX) and system development. According to Human Resocia's survey, approximately 80% of large corporations reported a shortage of IT personnel, with around 60% predicting a more serious shortage in the next five years.
The construction field is equally challenged, faced with the “2024 problem” and a decline in the workforce, making it increasingly difficult to secure skilled engineers. The growing use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Construction Information Modeling (CIM) is also heightening the demand for talented professionals who can adapt to these digital processes.
Amid these challenges, Japanese businesses are looking towards overseas talents with specialized knowledge. Human Resocia has been promoting the utilization of foreign engineers through its overseas IT engineer dispatch services, tapping into Indonesia's potential—ranking among the top ten globally in terms of information and communication workforce
As of December 2024, Human Resocia will begin the “Civil Talent Program,” designed to support Indonesian students in the architecture and civil engineering fields who wish to work in Japan.
MOU Details
The agreement encompasses four engineering universities, beginning with ITS, which ranks among the top 300 globally and third within Indonesia. This collaboration will enhance career opportunities and create mutual connections between the organizations and students from IT, robotics, control, and construction civil engineering disciplines. Specific initiatives include hosting company information sessions, career seminars, and providing information about employment opportunities in Japan.
Furthermore, after recruitment, inductees will receive Japanese language education, support for relocation, and assistance throughout their employment, ensuring a smooth integration into Japan’s work environment. This initiative aims not only to bolster the careers of aspiring Indonesian engineers but also contribute significantly to solving the domestic shortage of IT and construction professionals.
