Polaris RZR Factory Racing Achieves Historic Vegas-to-Reno Victory in 2026

Polaris RZR Factory Racing Makes History

In an exhilarating turn of events, the Polaris Off Road and the RZR Factory Racing Team has achieved a significant victory at the 2026 Vegas-to-Reno desert race. This monumental win marks the first time in the team's history that they’ve conquered this legendary event, a feat that has eluded them for years. The race, one of the most demanding in off-road racing, took place over 505 miles of harsh desert terrain and is known for its rigorous challenges.

The 2026 iteration of the race was unique, as the course was reversed for only the first time in over three decades, providing a fresh set of challenges for all participants. Brock Heger, driving the No.T96 RZR Pro R Factory, powered through the race, clinching both the UTV Overall victory and sealing the team's first-ever success at this competition. Heger completed the race with a remarkable time of 7 hours, 51 minutes, and 29 seconds. Not only did he finish as the top UTV, but he also earned an impressive seventh place overall among all four-wheel vehicles, including the outright Unlimited Trophy Trucks, which typically dominate the field.

Heger's overall seventh-place finish is particularly notable, especially considering he competed against trucks specifically designed for high-speed performance, boasting considerably more horsepower. This accomplishment showcases the remarkable capabilities and durability of the RZR Pro R Factory, especially in a landscape that includes obstacles such as heat, rocks, and dust. Throughout the race, Heger initially qualified just over half a second behind the leader and quickly emerged as a front-runner in the UTV category. Over the course of the grueling race, he built a notable lead, edging out his competition by over eight minutes on corrected time.

Reflecting on this landmark victory, Heger remarked, "Vegas-to-Reno has been one of those races we've wanted since this team started, so to finally get it done is huge. This race is incredibly demanding, and over the 500 miles, there are so many opportunities for something to go wrong. The RZR Pro R Factory performed flawlessly, and the team provided everything we needed to succeed today. Securing the win and finishing seventh overall against all trucks makes this achievement particularly special for us."

Adding to the team’s achievements, Ethan Groom drove the No.T74 RZR Pro R Factory to a respectable fifth place finish in the UTV Pro category. Groom's success reinforces the impressive performance and durability of the RZR Pro R Factory model across extreme off-road conditions. With Polaris capturing six out of the top ten spots in the UTV Pro overall, it underscores the vehicle's performance under pressure.

Alex Scheuerell, Polaris' Director of Off-Road Motorsports, expressed pride in the team's accomplishment. He noted, "Winning Vegas-to-Reno for the first time is a remarkable milestone for Polaris and this team. Brock's performance against the entire four-wheeled field only adds to the impressiveness of our victory. Finishing seventh overall against the Unlimited Trophy Trucks speaks volumes about Brock's skills on the terrain, the preparation of our team, and the exceptional capabilities of the RZR Pro R Factory. Everyone at Polaris should take pride in this achievement."

With this historic victory, Heger adds another significant accolade to his impressive list of accomplishments in off-road racing. The Polaris RZR Factory Racing team is set to return for the Baja 400 scheduled from September 8-13, as they look to build on their remarkable success within the SCORE Desert Series.
